Name: John H. Black on Dec 7, 2012Comments: When I used to work at Ilex Systems, we adopted Hunter Canyon as our canyon to clean up and enjoy. This was under the "Friends of the Huachucas." We had company sponsored cleanups every month. These were well attended by employees, friends and family members. After cleanups we would have a company sponsored picnic with the children and families. There is no way anyone could do that sort of family activity in Hunter Canyon with the current unsafe situation. About the only activity that occurs there now is the mindless and careless shooting by a minority of thoughtless citizens.Flag

Name: Peter Sockness on Dec 8, 2012Comments: I have been concerned about this activity, especially in Hunter Canyon, for years. I have picked up garbage left by the shooters, I have complained to the Forest Service about the damage to the area, I have contacted the local media about the problems associated with this activity. It's time the Forest Service put a stop to it!Flag

Name: Mary Jo Ballator on Dec 8, 2012Comments: I live in Ash Canyon and am appalled by the constant shooting I hear from my home each and every day -- even during working hours on week days. In addition to all the disturbances and safety issues listed in the petition above, this area is within the National Audubon Society's Huachuca Mountain Important Bird Area http://aziba.org/?page_id=396 What can we do to prevent the senseless destruction of this national treasure by the excessive use from just one out-of-control faction of the concept of sustainable multiple-use management?Flag

Name: Lisabeth Sockness on Dec 8, 2012Comments: We live in Lower Stump Canyon, and the shooting in Hunter is incessant! We hate what the forest service is doing to the folks that want to hike and bird. Shooting is very much a deterrent to the folks that basically travel by horseback, cyclists, hiking and birding. It's completely insane that the forest service is allowing these shooters to damage trees. It is out of control! -Liz SocknessFlag

Name: Robert White on Dec 8, 2012Comments: As a life NRA member don't tell me that I don't know about guns and shooting. But this has gotten out of hand. Its hard for me to believe that any federal or state agency would be so slow to take corrective action, even the Forest Service. Not only is it unsafe to go anywhere near Hunter Canyon during daylight hours but the canyon has become a single-use area for the rest of us.Flag
