Humble ISD has required Creekwood Middle School to abandon a fundraising donkey basketball game, which 100% of funds raised would directly benefit Creekwood Middle School. The unexpected interference of this event abruptly halted several months of planning by volunteers, staff members and sponsors. The decision cost money to Creekwood Middle School supporters.

Donkey basketball games have successfully raised funds for schools in Humble ISD for many, many years in the past. Why did Humble ISD interfere with and demand that a school withdraw from a fund raising event that had taken place in our district for decades?

These fun events increase school spirit and bring our community together. Our fund raisers are also critical due to the shortcomings of Humble ISD district budgets that leave important needs of our schools and students unfulfilled.

Has Humble ISD forgotten that our schools belong to our residents and community tax payers?

Has Humble ISD forgotten that our traditions, our volunteers, our ideas and our community enthusiasm towards bettering our schools are what make our schools great?

Why did Humble ISD choose to discredit the hard work of our parents, the kind donations from our sponsors and the enthusiasm of our teachers, staff members and students?

Why has Humble ISD offered no explanation for its actions and no apologies to this school or its supporters who spent large amounts of time and money to make this school event successful?

Has Humble ISD's focus on district-wide fundraising become a conflict of interest to its duties to be supportive of each school individually and the community efforts belonging to those supporting parties?

We, the undersigned, demand that Humble ISD retract its decision to tear apart Creekwood Middle School's hard work, enthusiasm, school spirit and needed fund raising initiatives of the 2014 donkey basketball game and release a statement of apology to the volunteers, students, staff members, residents, supporters and sponsors of Creekwood Middle School.

We insist that Humble ISD Risk Management, Administrators and School Board recognize the following:

1. Our schools can only be great by the ideas and efforts of teachers, volunteers, parents and community supporters who invest their resources and their hearts into bettering our schools.

2. These are our schools, our traditions and our children. We have the right to raise funds to support our individual schools outside of Humble ISD's efforts to raise district-wide funds.

3. Humble ISD should be supportive of the ideas and activities that better our schools.

4. Humble ISD should not treat our schools as particles within a dictatorship and should be respectful of our school spirit and our school projects.

5. Humble ISD should uphold the values of our communities and our citizens that make each individual school great and empower our schools to take needed actions to meet the needs of our students.
