| 102 | Hank Trout | I have complete hearing loss in my left ear, which makes my right ear extraordinarily sensitive to loud high-pitched noises like the ear-splitting alarm on MUNI trains. Hearing the alarm is very much akin to jamming a knitting needle into my eardrum and brain. It is not only an obnoxiously loud noise, it actually causes me great physical pain. Why not change it to more dulcet tones like the "ding dong" warning on the London metro? |

| 104 | Matthew Sweeney | Please do something to change this awful sound. I think it is causing seizures. |
| 105 | Heather Houser | |
| 106 | Joy Almquist | It would be much appreciated. Thank you. |
| 107 | Marijke De Bondt | I couldn't agree more. Thank you for starting this. |
| 108 | gwendolyn warfield | Please! A warning bell is important, but the siren is painful and often goes off when not necessary (as when someone gets on the train right before the doors close). It is unnecessarily harsh! |

| 112 | James Coughlan | The ear-splitting alarm is just one reason I wear earplugs whenever I ride the J. |

| 119 | Marco Place | A MUNI spokesperson stated one reason for this screech is so that the driver won't begin departure while a door is open, but surely there's a light on the LRV's dash to alert the driver that a door is open . I'm surprised the LRV CAN move while a door is open.
Thanks Ms. Hellein for this petition. |
| 120 | Guy Lauten | Please stop this unnecessary noise pollution! It hurts!!! |
| 121 | Anonymous | The spokesperson from Muni on the news said the alarms were necessary so the drivers don't pull out with the door open? Please....every other subway system seems to function without them and so did Muni before these new cars. Not buying it. |

Please....every other subway system seems to function without them and so did Muni before these new cars. Not buying it. They seems to have no problem pulling out when people are running to catch the train! |
| 123 | Anonymous | my fucking ears ring and i'm THIS close to killing someone when that fucking alarm goes off |

| 125 | Anonymous | I avoid taking the N specifically because of the shriek of the alarms. Even when wearing ear plugs, the sound is blood curdling |
| 126 | Ramon Solis | It really is quite annoying. |

| 128 | Jordan Matheny | Absolutely. It's one of those little things that can really push you over the edge during rush hour, when everybody is crammed, it's hot, and nobody can breathe, and then God, that noise could split your skull! Really, a bell would be nice. And while you're at it, enough of those stupid safety announcements on the Muni buses. That robot voice makes me feel like I live in a techno-fascist dystopia. |

| 130 | Mark Matthieu | I agree, it hurts my ears and is loud for NO reason. Please adjust the sound. |

An olden flower child whose hearing is half
gone anyway ;-). CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW??
THANKS!!! |

| 134 | Timothy Roseland | Yah that noise is ridiculous. It drives me insane. I simple voice "Preparing to raise the steps" would suffice. |
| 135 | Robert Evans | I ride the J everyday and agree completely. |
| 136 | Anonymous | I have complained to SF Muni twice about this exact same request. Often this happens when people are outside standing in line still trying to get onto the train. Caltrain, Bart, and Muni buses do not have these types of noises. Bart has 2 short friendly beeps to let you know the doors are about to close. I don't see why the Muni trains should be any different when either the steps move or when the doors close. The current sound level & length is excessive and very inhumane! |
