Name: Della Irvin on Mar 26, 2008Comments: I am shocked I had no idea. This is America people is our congress so caught up in nothing that they haven't thought to do this before I can't understand how we have overlooked this. I mean if someone were to do things like this on their own it would be animal cruelty so why is it a double standard for the shelters. This is barbaric and I am going to have a hard time sleeping tonight!Flag

Name: Linda Kleiner on Mar 26, 2008Comments: I know that some studies have shown carbon monoxide to be "humane" but these animals are all put together in a room or container where they are totally stressed - sometimes attacked by others who share their fate and they die at different times. Animals very sensitive to death watch as the others around them die as they await the same fate - they scratch frantically on the walls trying to escape. How can we do this to these animals - some of whom were loved pets given up due to illness or death of their owners, taken there believing that shelters "shelter" and find homes for the animals - I believed this for a good portion of my life - surely the fate that awaited them was beyond my imagination. These animals are all at shelters because of something a human being has done - be it not confining their pet, dumping unwanted puppies, not caring about the pet of a loved one who has become unable to care for them. WE MUST STOP THIS ! ! !Flag

Name: Mary Lou Maraganis on Mar 27, 2008Comments: It is heart wrenching enough to know many companion animals have to die b/e of us humans not passing laws to help protect them. At least, let us protect at death. Many of us are working endlessly to spay/neuter and find forever homes for these homeless, often abused pets and the numbers euthanized are coming down. Please while we get this number to 0, please know of this horrific way these animals are killed and please help us who care change the law so that these animals need nut suffer also at their death. thank youFlag

These innocent creatures may not be human but they are living, breathing beings and have no voice but ours.....please help them.Flag

Name: Conne Biggans on Mar 27, 2008Comments: I would like to add that EVERY animal breeder should be registered with their state and pay a fee for each litter they register and passing a law that any person that is not a registered breeder that does not spay or neuter their dog/cat and has an unregistered litter, is charged a fine and for this happen each state will need to provide FREE spaying and neutering to ALL!!!! The fines should be made stick enough to pay for the cost of the spaying and neutering and THAT would quickly take care of the problem of unwanted animals and NO animal will have to suffer a death simply because no one has a home for it. I believe that GOD gave us animals to rule over to see how we treat them, because after all, we are their "God" and would you want Him to treat you like we treat the animals that we are responsible for!!!!Flag

Name: Joyce Urban on Mar 27, 2008Comments: Stop the cruel, inhumane methods many, many shelters still utilize as a method of disposing of animals already thrown away by their uncaring owners. Its bad enough people will just disgard the animals but to have them suffer as they leave this world is just inhumane and shows no compassionFlag
