We, the students of the Howard University College of Medicine class of 2018, petition to reschedule the Structure and Function Unit 2 re-examination.

The students who are in need of a re-examination have not been afforded a proper amount of time to study for the exam. Final grades for the units have been changed a total of 3 times. This is important to note in that each time the grades changed, a different set of students was included in the total count of failures. The constant inconsistency in the grading mislead some students to believe they did not have to take the re-examination, thus decreasing their time to study. Time is crucial in such a situation. The amount of material to be mastered for the re-exam, on top of new material for the current unit is simply astounding. A student may work to master the previous unit's material, but not fully have time to conquer the current material. This is disastrous in that it may stifle said student's ability to fully learn the material, which could possibly result in long term subject deficiencies. This is unacceptable in that our knowledge is not just for us, but most importantly our future patients.

We understand the depth of this petition. In total, we are grateful for the opportunity to even take a course specific re-examination. However it is only right that sufficient time be allowed to study the material. Thank you in advance for your consideration.
