Council’s last July approval of the controversial Wal-Mart centred development at Centennial Parkway and the QEW had been under appeal to the Ontario Municipal Board (OMB) by Hamiltonians for Progressive Development (HPD) and Environment Hamilton.This week the two groups announced a settlement with Smart Centres that requires the developer to build a sidewalk along the east side of Centennial Parkway, install bus layovers, and provide up to $50,000 a year to the HSR for four years to facilitate transit service to the commercial complex. QEW and Centennial SmartCentres development Hamiltonians for Progressive Development and Environment Hamilton are pleased to announce that they have negotiated a settlement with SmartCentres and the City of Hamilton in regards to plans by SmartCentres to develop lands on the south east corner of Centennial Parkway and the South Service Road near the QEW. Last July's City Council decision regarding this development was appealed to the Ontario Municipal Board by Hamiltonians for Progressive Development and Environment Hamilton. The resulting negotiated terms of settlement have been approved by the Board.
