This document is to petition that homeschooling be illegalized, or at least restricted, because it robs students of identity, opinion, and personality. I have known many homeschool students throughout my life, and 90 percent of them all look the same, act the same, dress the same, etc. Most of them have few or no friends, very little social skills, and many can be identified as homeschooled just by appearance.
Homeschooling also has the potential to cause truancy, because the student is home so much. Most older children and teenagers can easily sneak out of the house, abandoning their work, and going out, possibly drinking or taking drugs.
Homeschooling is also an open window for child abuse. While child abuse does occur in public schools, homeschooling allows it to occur more frequently, and it would likely remain undetected longer.
So, by putting an end to homeschooling, child abuse and truancy would be reduced, and socialization would improve. This is why I request that homeschooling be illegalized, or at least restricted in some way. |
