Name: Liz Ma on Dec 5, 2007Comments: I realize that exams are important for "prepping" us for college. But the many seniors I know last year, who were lucky enough to enjoy exemptions, are doing extremely well in college and there is no real "backlash" from missing ONE measly final in their entire high school career. I think a tiny break is well-deserved if you've been studying and taking exams the past three years in the first place. It'd be a better idea to compromise-- and only exempt those with a quota of extremely difficult classes and a high GPA throughout their entire career. Well, those are the people who WOULD study for the exam in the first place (and will if they have to), but also have a lot of other exams to be studying for. These people study ridiculous amounts, and it would fare them well grade-wise to give them one final exemption. Being overloaded brings down your GPA, and no college likes that. And who says these people aren't already well-prepared by all the other exams they have and will be taking Who assumed this Is one exemption just so horrible The idea that taking away an exemption we deserve will "prepare" hardworking students is ridiculous, and frankly... a horribly stupid ASSUMPTION. And hey, I've known several people that attend class only because they're hoping to exempt a final. ATTENDING CLASS = GOOD FOR COLLEGE. Am I wrong When push comes to shove I will take all the finals I have to, but I'm honestly a bit frustrated that this change is supported by an idiotic conjecture that taking all the finals we can no matter how hard we already work will do us any significance in college.Flag

Name: Sutton on Dec 5, 2007Comments: i dont think it is fair that this is the last class to get exemptions! im in the class of 2010 and they have put/added more things to the core 40 and honors and it would/is harder for us to pass than it is for them so i think it is nesscessary that you keep the exam exemptions.Flag

Name: Marcy Trinkle on Dec 5, 2007Comments: I think it was really bad planning on the administrations part to not allow anyone to exempt finals anymore. Not only do final exemptions allow students to study for finals they actually need to more than others, but it is a reward to students for getting goods grades and for even coming to school. Now, students are not as motivated to come to school, and will gladly miss many more days because they cannot exempt. If the school administration was hoping to better our school and our reputation for a "Blue Ribbon School" by exempting exemptions, they were mistaken and until they correct this error, students grades will be continually dropping. * Also, did anyone notice how after they started to get rid of exemptions the Blue Ribbon School nominations and awards stopped coming Way to go Administration... Way to love your students.Flag
