Background (preamble)
Washington State is introducing a Bill to reduce the sentencing grid that would allow inmates who qualify an opportunity to be released back into society. The guide lines are as follows; It is based on offender score, only effects certain crimes and mandatory minimums.

Petition;
 Washington State needs to do something to control our inmate population. Correctional costs are booming out of control and eating away at our states resources. For the first time ever prison and probation costs are rising faster than any other state expenses. This includes but not limited to Medicaid,Transportation and Education. There is more we can do with our money to ensure public safety and our community as a whole.
 By offering better rehabilitation programming and not stock piling inmates we have the opportunity for a better future for ourselves and those in need.
