Comments: I feel that the most important aspect of the solution to our problems would be the introduction of marked bays to prevent wasted spaces which are too small for a vehicle. I also feel very strongly about the number of commercial vehicles - particularly large vans - which are parked in these streets.

Comments: I am a working mum who arrives home with my two children normally after 6pm on weekdays and cannot park. It is the most stressful part of my day and often Ihave resorted to parking in Homebase car park. I know this is also unacceptable but the residents on our area often have no choice. Please can we have residents parking as I am very anxious that the situation will become ridiculous once the new Legal and General company opens.

Comments: SORRY BUT I DONT AGREE WITH RESIDENT'S PARKING. I LIVE IN THE AREA AND YES PARKING IS BAD AT TIMES BUT USUALLY YOU CAN FIND SPACES. RESIDENT'S PARKING IS AN OTHER WAY TO END UP HAVING TO GIVE THE COUNCIL MORE MONEY AND STILL DOES NOT GUARANTEE YOU A SPACE. PLEASE SAY NO TO RESIDENT'S PARKING.

Comments: I could not agree more with the sentiments expresseed in this petion. Using the railway line as a boundary to the controlled parking zone is a disaster for those people living north of it. It is only a matter of a 10 minute walk to the hub of shops and business' in the heart of Hove, and less to the railway station. I implore Cllr Bennet to campaign in the strongest terms to the council incoporate this neighbourhood to be incorporated into the controlled parking scheme.

Comments: The arguements of your petition does not go far enough, we are inandated with dumped vehiles. (One I can point out, although taxed, has not been moved since about March, even though it has been broken into!) The people in Old Shoreham Road use this area instead of their own drive ways, Second hand Car Sales Co's dump here, plus all the vans and cars left here over the week-ends, because they live in the controlled area's. You can only use my name on one condition! That Parking Permits are only to the residents of 'Painters Corner', not to Old Shoreham Road and other places

Comments: I work as a full time carer in an EMI home and do not arrive home untill after 8.30pm. I can NEVER park at this time and often have to go around and wait for up to 20 mins for someone else to leave. This as you can imagine is unacceptable and leaves me even more tried after a very long day.

Comments: Shopping for food is a simple task for most people however, for those of us living in these streets, it has become a great hassel. We can not shop whenever we want for the fear of losing a parking space. When we do lose the space, we then have to unload our shopping whilst double or illegally parked and face the possibility of a fine.

Comments: It seems extremely unfair that the efforts to help other areas with residents only parking has directly affected an already troubled area like ours. Every morning on my walk to Hove train station to get to work I see numerous people parking within our streets and Sackville Road so that they can walk to the station and park for free! Then in the evening I see them coming back to collect their cars to drive back to their homes (wherever they may be). To add to the insult, there is the increasing problem of people living in neighbourhoods nearby who want to park for free in our streets. Where does this leave us My family has lived in Landseer Road for 25 years and inevitably there have been major changes in the parking situation. However, we never thought that it would get so bad that we could not even park in our own street, let alone outside our home. When built, old houses like ours had no need for driveways, and it seems like we are now being punished for this. I would like to ask why the majority of nearby neighbourhoods have had their parking problems dealt with whilst we have been ignored Surely the council should have recognised that shifting one problem to another area would not get rid of it, but would in fact make it worse. In the evenings it is almost impossible to find a space in any of our streets and so parking on Sackville road has become the only option. Aside from being an inconvenience, this can be unsafe for an individual to be forced to walk in the dark alone on a road where attacks are not unheard of, just to get home. It is because of these reasons that I, along with other neighbours I am sure, find myself having to stay indoors in the evenings for fear of forfeiting my space to non-residents and commercial trucks. This completely defeats the whole point in owning a car and leads to a feeling of being stranded or trapped in your own home. With the extortionate coucil tax that we are paying, is it unreasonable to expect a parking space near your house Something has got to give, as it cannot get any worse than it is at the moment.

Comments: I am so glad that somebody has started this long overdue petition...thank you! I completely agree with the sentiments expressed. Parking is an absolute nightmare and WILL get worse. It is very stressful trying to get my disabled mother-in-law in and out of the car whilst holding up a queue of cars behind me because there is nowhere to stop. I am not overly keen on giving the council yet more money, however if it means that I can park my car safely and conveniently then so be it. Bring on resident's permits!

Comments: I agree in principle, but ONLY if it would be possible for me to have 2 permits as I have 2 cars! AND... why should we residents have to pay for the white paint and signs all the wardens walk down our streets anyway so no extra need for funds there... it seems the cost is the issue forcing people to park on our streets in the first place. Doesn't our council tax cover this

Comments: I am for the petition as I work all over the south east and on returning late am lucky to get parked. The amount of bus drivers whom park here to take over their buses at Sackville road as well as traders and penny pinchers make it nightmare for residents apart from some houses that have two or more vehicles and save spaces for each other

Comments: The parking situation in Artist's Corner has become truly impossible over the last few months. We only own one car and so the space outside our house would be more than enough for our parking needs, but it is frequently impossible to park anywhere on the entire road. This is difficult enough for people with heavy shopping, etc but must be far worse for the elderly and young families. Please make this area controlled parking as soon as possible.

Comments: I DO NOT AGREE. Parking is only a problem in the evening. I dont mind if people at work park here during the day. A permit wil not solve this. Also I do not want to pay for a permit. If the service was free then great, but it wont be!

Comments: I contacted the council several months ago asking them to include our road in the permit zone .They said that they will monitor the situation for six months to assess any knock on effect ,which means it would take at least a year for Artists' Corner to become a contolled zone . i would have thought that two months would be plenty of time to review any(obvious) changes.
