Name: Robert L Zorens on Feb 4, 2013Comments: I pay $300.00 auto licence, $300.00 boat tax,$2000.00 real estate tax, plus gas, phone, and sales taxes. Guess what. I do not have a money tree. I may soon be looking for a state more tax payer friendly with reasonable taxation. Either that or stop eating maybe.Flag

Name: Andrea Siefring-Robbins on Feb 4, 2013Comments: I have been a boater at Burnside Marina for 25+ years, previously on my family's boat and now on the one that my husband and I own. I am so concerned that one more measure to cause boaters to consider leaving Lake Cumberland or Burnside Marina could be the final nail in the coffin. We choose to keep our boat at Burnside Marina for so many reasons, but do not have to continue to do so. The economic impact of an exodus of boaters will be MUCH greater than the impact of tax revenue. I plead with you to realize that you cannot pass this tax as it will only lend to further depressing an industry and community that I have grown up so fond of and chosen to remain in as an adult.....I don't know that we'll continue to make this decision if this tax is to pass. We have boating options geographically much closer to us; however, we choose to spend our time and money to come to Lake Cumberland, specifically to Burnside Marina and to spend our money in the surrounding community. Please realize that this is our choice we and many other boaters have made and continue to make; changing the economic impact of boating and making this community less boater friendly could cause people to choose to boat elsewhere.Flag

Name: Donald L. Huber on Feb 4, 2013Comments: Burnside and Lake Cumberland have been a second home to our family for45 plus years. We have experienced the "lows" and "highs" over the years, but the Wolf Creek Dam difficulties have stressed this great vacation land to no end. Just as the Dam situation is, hopefully, behind us, please, we do not need a setback due to a "houseboat" tax. I have far too many friends who choose to go elsewhere for their boating pleasures....especially houseboating due to the lowering of the water level. We have stuck it out, but I worry greatly about the economic enviroement in both Burnside and the entire area of Lake Cumberland. Tourist don't have to think twice about where to go if economic conditions slip downward, and it is not to stay at beautiful Lake Cumberland. This suggested tax for Burnside would impact the entire Lake...no, no we can't have that. Thanks for you attention and please consider not passing this tax.Flag
