Name: Thomas E. Brinker on Feb 2, 2013Comments: We have a slip at Burnside . We have been boating on Lake Cumberland since the 60s and our children and grandchildren have joined us. In fact our children own a house in Lake Cumberland Resort and together we spend considerable amounts of money Burnside & Sumerset. We would like to continue spending our free time at Lake Cumberland.Flag

Name: David Keller on Feb 2, 2013Comments: We are already being taxed by the County and State for property tax on the houseboat. Look at Burnside Marina, its half empty! You are going to run more customers out if you apply a city tax. Making Burnside a tax friendly place will keep boaters here using Burnside restaurants. Look at downtown Burnside. All the business are gone. Burnside Marina is all YOU HAVE Got Left!Flag

Name: Michael Meade on Feb 3, 2013Comments: Additional taxes on boats and/or houseboats will likely have a further negative on Burnside. The boating industry is in serious decline and the Burnside Marine has suffered greatly in its wake. Recreational boating generates a great deal of economic activity for Burnside. Pulaski county has added additional boating taxes which will put pressure on boaters to move to other marinas or get out of boating all together. Please do not add any more taxes to boats/houseboats. Additional taxes will most likely result in a long term decline in revenue for the citizens and City Government.Flag

Name: Robert And Judy Sheeler on Feb 3, 2013Comments: We wholeheartedly agree with every word of this petition. You are taxing yourself right out of business. We aren't residents, but we still have to pay tangible property taxes and school taxes. We have never had a child in Pulaski County Schools and never will. We resent all these taxations and will be moving our boat to another place if it continues. So will alot of other boaters that we know. So don't cut your nose off to spite your face.Flag
