Comments: I for one think that in this day and age such things would not cause such a change in a stores policy.being a wiccan/pagan merchant myself I find it benificial that HOT TOPICS did this!but weak minded to cave in to such pressure or maybe the proper term is spineless.Being that my store caters to the wiccan/pagan community in the seven years that we have been in buisness we have never! had the first problem whispers1997.theshoppe.com james

Comments: Religious freedom, Ladies and Gentlemen, is a 100% pure American way. I am proud to be from PA, which was founded strongly upon the idea that all religions shall be tolerated. Wicca, Paganism, and Neo-Pagainsim are real religions. Although we are in the minority, there are many thousands of us and there will be more of us tomorrow and tomorrow. Be brave, Ladies and Gentlement, and make a stand for our minority religion. Many Blessings. -Rev. Randy Rainville.

Comments: Hot Topic has been one of my favorite stores for a long time. I neglected to notice that you no longer sold Witch,Wiccan items. However being informed as such I will no longer shop at Hot Topic. You sell products that push the edge anyway, products that some conservative people may find offensive. It is very unfortunate that you will not sale Witch products and I suspect that you will lose more than one customer for this. Support those who shop for you by supporting religious tolerance. Your actions are showing otherwise. Wendy S.

Comments: Dear Sir or Madam, Please don't bow to pressure regarding the merchandise you keep in your stores. Frankly, the Christian rightwing frowns upon the Goth lifestyle as well as other religions, including Wicca. Woodbridge Center Mall in New Jersey, which I frequent, includes both a Wiccan store (Journey) and Hot Topic, and there's been little or so incidents regarding either. For many people, the Hot Topic store may be the only place they can go to celebrate their "alternative" lifestyle. Many Goths also are legitimately Wiccan and Pagan. Hot Topic would be a better, more marketable business if it catered to all aspects of the Goth lifestyle. To be honest, most of the critics of the store's merchandise would not shop there.

Comments: The current culture should allow Hot Topic customers to choose their purchases freely, not have the store determine what is "appropriate".

Comments: When the goth/alternative lifestyle population makes up most of your customer base, and many members of this subculture are wiccan/pagan..discriminating against them seems like a very silly, ignorant thing to do.

How can they possibly hope to alienate their main customer base like that and get away with it Not only that but the products that Hot Topic sells are certainly not Christian Right material, so why in the world are they listening to those folks C'mon Hot Topic, get a grip and sell newWitch.

Comments: While yours is a private enterprise and subject only to federal, state, and local laws and ordinances, your high profile as a business makes you a grandstand for political statements. When you make store policy that excludes a portion of your clientele, whether you want to or not, you make a political statement. These statements will not be tolerated by some, and they will lead to a boycott. I urge you to change your hurtful, oppressive, and unethical policy, as much for yourselves as for us.
