Name: Amber Ladeira on Jul 19, 2010Comments: The humans who hurt other animals are cowardly animals themselves. Even though I live in the USA, I protest this sulkie practice and OF COURSE the beating of any animal. There is terrible cruelty here in the U.S. as well. IT MUST STOP! Here in Illinois cruelty to animals is a Class 4 felony. You may have heard of Michael Vick, a famous football player who went to jail for dogfighting practices. That should be the legal fate of all such persons.Flag

Name: Damien Mooney on Jul 22, 2010Comments: We, the undersigned call on the Carriage Office, Dublin (Licensing), Dublin City Council and the Department of Agriculture (Animal Welfare) to end the use of Horses and other Equines as load-bearing beasts of burden. ~Because horse drawn carriages constitute a danger to people in vehicles, on bicycles and on foot; and ~Because they impede the flow of traffic, particularly with respect to emergency vehicles; and ~Mainly because it is inhumane and unbecoming to any city to force these beautiful sentient animals to work in dangerous, unhealthy and unnatural conditions. We believe that other species are not ours to use. We, the Undersigned, hereby urge the Irish legislaters and Dublin City Council to immediately ban all horse drawn vehicles from our streetsFlag

Name: Luiza Furtado on Dec 13, 2010Comments: Even tough visually pretty, the carriages are not needed anymore. There are other ways of transportation and plus, there is no reason for the horse to be put in a stressful and painful situation, just for the sake of a tradition/tourism. As said on the petition: "we believe that other species are not ours to use".Flag

Name: Clodagh Bowers on Jan 9, 2011Comments: While a bunch of cowboys seem to have been in charge of this country for quite a long time now it seems that it is only natural that a bunch of cowboys have been riding around our streets making hay while the sun shines, and not for the horses. I do hope that our new representatives in 2011 may see the sense in stopping the use of horse drawn vehicles nervously working their way around pedestrians crossing streets, cars, buses, taxis, luas etc. endangering their lives, which don't seem to be worth a dime, and endangering the lives of everyone else on the road. Maybe that means something.?Flag

Name: Claire on May 15, 2011Comments: Using horses to draw carriages and people around for quite a few hours in the day, every day is very cruel and exausting for these beautiful creatures. Forced to carry heavy loads on a daily basis is not good for these animals bones and muscles and is very tiring for them, also they are on their feet for long hours every day on concrete floors with no cushioning under their feet and these animals cant get to lie down comfortably to sleep or rest and only get short breaks, also the jobs these animals are doing is dangerous for both them and the public and i ask you to do the right thing for these creatures and ban this practise for good!Flag
