Graham Stuart MPThis decision cannot be allowed to go ahead, and we, as a community, will see that it is overturned.
Paul TrainThe threatened closure of beds at Hornsea is a total betrayal to the local community and the hard working staff by the PCT ,how can matters of this magnitude be carried out in 3 weeks with no prior notice.Totally irresponsible action ,which affect's the other support health professional doctors ambulance service without any consulation
Kathleen BealI have spent several months in the Hornsea Cottage Hospital and have had the very best of care and because my family live locally I had lots of visitors. The hospital belongs to the people of Hornsea and surrounding areas.

Sharon MayStepfather recently diagnosed with terminal cancer and currently on the waiting list for a bed in the Cottage Hospital. Mum (and main carer) unable to drive and in need of some local restbite. A crucial part of the local community which is much appreciated by many!

Mark BremerI grew up in Hornsea. My father spent time in the hospital with heart problems. I am intending to retire back to Hornsea in the next few years and would very much like to think that the hospital will be there for my wife and I.
Jean TurnerThis is a meorial Hospital entirely built and well suppoprted fiancially by the population It is essential to ther welfare of the community to survive the continued neglest and plans to reduce their overspend by depriving the town of this very effective Health service within the community. Hornsea is part of the EY rural area , transport to transport people for medical help non existent. Closure would undoubtedly lead to loss of life due to non access to emergency services. Journey to nearest A & E Dept. over one hours travel if one is well enought to drive and a car available.
AnonymousHornsea Cottage Hospital is a wonderful place for the elderly and convalescents. The surroundings are peaceful, clean and well-decorated and the nurses are friendly, welcoming and kind. One of my relatives is currently recovering there after an operation and I cannot imagine where else they could have gone to get the same level of care and service.

Sarah ClarkeCan we really afford to lose another hospital? Cost doesn't just mean cash, money is immaterial when you or a loved one are dying.

Helen HainesMy Grandma is being cared for by the staff at Hornsea Cottage Hospital at the moment. I live a long way away and have been delighted and reassured by the friendly and intimate service that she has received whilst there. Every time I have spoken to a member of staff on the phone they have known my Grandma as soon as I have given her name. She has been well looked after and has been fed well whilst she has recovered from surgery and a stroke. I am so sorry to hear that the hospital is due to close. Is it that she hasn't caught MRSA or that the staff know her so intimately that makes it a failure of hospital? Maybe it's because she would be too close to home and all her friends who have visited daily that make it such a bad place to recooperate? You tell me. Why should such a fantastic facility which offers my Grandma so much in the way of care and rehabilitation close? I can only think that it may be to do with the fact that her stay in Hornsea Cottage Hospital (having paid national insurance and tax all her life) is just too good (or even luxurious?). Perhaps Hornsea Cottage Hospital are putting the NHS out of business, in the fact that they rehabilitate to such a caring level that their patients don't need to be re-admitted to hospital because they are actually allowed to recover to the point that they can go home and be better. I am so very disappointed that after my Grandma has worked all her life, she is facing the closure of her local, fantastic hospital. Please can the person who has made this crazy and seemingly adhoc decision email me to explain why they think it is a good idea to close this facility. Thank you.

Wendie WrightWhy should patients, particularly the elderly, have to travel to hospitals such as Hull if they can be treated locally. This causes them less distress and enables their friends and neighbours to visit more often. Our NHS facilities seem to be going downhill instead of improving!
