Comments: i think its wrong the way the coastguards have been treated. that young girl would have drowned. the men that braved their own life should be thanked for their bravery not disciplined. how would the top persons feel if was their son or daughter drowning. a wrong decision has been made.

Comments: It simply makes no sense to withdraw a basic and fundamental service that has been proven time and time again to be a life saver. The coastguard team are totally professional and highly trained and deserve support at every level.

Comments: Let's have some common sense here and restore the boat or a similar one immediately. I'm quite sure that the crew are more than capable of deciding whether or not to launch and are aware of the risks they are taking. The knee-jerk reaction of someone in the Coastguard Agency is wholly inappropriate and is more to do with covering his or her own back than anything else.

Comments: the rescue boat must be returned immediately to Hope Cove volunteers - their actions were morally correct on the day and the general public should not be punished by the Coastguard Agency. Some rules must be broken!

Comments: This petty act was beaurocracy gone mad. The Lifeguards who use the boat are more than competent judges of its seaworthyness. The MCA should be deeply ashamed of itself.

If it was one of there own out there i dare say this petition would never have to be made..The life guards risk there own lives to save others and do a fantastic job. Please support this owrth cause.

Comments: We completely disagree with the decisions made and believe the lifeboat should be made returned immediately, and in good repair. We know the Hope Cove lifeguards totally did the right thing!! They are all heroes and should be treated as such. Shame on the others, would they have rather the girl died in the very long 20 minutes it would have taken They are behaving like spoilt children. Good luck Hope Cove, hope you get it back very soon, John and Angela Alexander and family, Torquay
