Name: Anonymous on Nov 6, 2009Comments: Visited beautiful Hope Cove in September; heard the story of the lifeboat and the rescue. Cannot believe such bureaucratic idiocy denying brave people who wish to help in emergencies. Is the boat seaworthy Are the crew trained and willing Then what is the problemFlag

Name: Mark Embrey on Feb 22, 2010Comments: Withdrawal of the full recue boat service at Hope Cove is sheer madness and reinstatement is vital to provide protection for sailers and holiday-makers. It should be clear beyond any doubt that the unselfish committment and dedication of the volunteers who man this service is vital in ensuring safety on this part of the coast. Please don't allow beaurocracy to prevent the safeguards that the rescue boat service provides.Flag

Name: Mrs S Bates on Aug 4, 2010Comments: We holiday in Hope Cove many times in a year. I have grown up going there on holiday as a child and my own children have grown up going to Hope Cove on holiday every year. The lifeboat must NOT be taken away and MUST be allowed to continue. Health and Safety is rediculous in not allowing the lifeboat to continue with saving lives. Health and Safety is becoming a laughing stock!!Flag

Name: Nick Alford on Sep 3, 2010Comments: At a time when Mr. Cameron is imploring the Uk to become part of his "Big Society" and volounteer to carry out public services what better way could the government demonstrate support for a volounteer group of people by protecting the coastguard rescue boat that local people and visitors wish to be available all year round to save lives when called upon. On the basis that the coastguard wish to maintain the cliff rescue services in the area the cost of maintaining a boat is of little financial consequence, particularly when benefactors have offered to pay for the boats upkeep.Flag

Name: Anthea Sweeney on Sep 4, 2010Comments: After holidaying at this beautiful place it is necessary to maintain a good service from the coastguard boat. 2 miles is nothing at sea and as I live in N.Norfolk I am completely aware that rescue boats are imperitive to the survival of holidaymakers and of course the many people who have boats at Hope Cove. I see our lifeboat going regularly and they travel miles not just playing about on the shore. Please maintain the old service and not be so shortsighted.Flag

Name: Gemma Turner on Nov 22, 2011Comments: The coastguard service is invaluble. When logging into Brixham for a cross channel trip, it is good to know that if you have not arrived at your destination at your eta, there will be some one to arrange a search if it is deemed necessary. It gives one a huge sense of security. Listening to the Falmoiuth coastguard morning report on local radio, it is amazing how busy they have been overnight. The same scenarios must be true all round the British coast. Having created such a fantastic service, it seems the height of foolishness to dismantle half of it.Flag
