HOPE Co-op Formal Event Petition

Addressed to the 2012 HOPE Co-op Board

[By signing this petition, you are indicating that you wish to have all or a portion of the matters noted below brought to the attention of the Board of HOPE Co-op for consideration.]

We, the undersigned, would like to bring your attention to the following problem, with a few recommendation(s):

On behalf of the middle school students, and other students effected by the recent and upcoming changes pertaining to the HOPE Formal scheduled to occur later this spring, we respectfully submit this petition. It has been previously communicated that seventh grade students would be allowed to attend the formal this year. Last year the cost was set at $10/ticket and this year the cost appears to be potentially increased to $25/ticket. While we understand the cost covers meal, dance, location, etc., the cost increase did not surface until just recently and this will/may hinder many of us from participating. Lastly, we would bring the issue of family into focus. We are HOPE Co-op. Our families are together week after week during the school year and we have enjoyed the thought of sharing a 'formal' night with our fellow HOPE family members.To join with outside groups may be an efficient way to keep cost down; it negates the attention to the members of HOPE that have longed for such an event. We have put so much into the co-op through the year, we wish to have a night where we can formally honor, fellowship, and enjoy with our fellow co-op members. Formals are about making memories, and we would appreciate the opportunity to have them HOPE memories. 

We offer the following for the consideration of the HOPE Board. Regardless of the outcome, we appreciate your time in this matter.

Recommendations for you to consider:

Change the participation grade level from 8th–12th BACK to 7th–12th .

Resurface the issue of cost and find a way to lower the price so that it is comparable to last year’s ticket price. Money raised from present and future fundraisers should be communicated/applied to the cost of each ticket, for all attending across the board.

Allow HOPE to hold its own formal for its members. Ticket holders can invite one guest of their choosing if they desire.

Future events such as this, should be planned early in the year and communicated from one forum so all are receiving the same information.
