Bilingual Petition.....English Version Below: MANIFIESTO PUBLICO Nosotros hondurenos y organizaciones amigas del pueblo de Honduras, residentes en varios lugares de los Estados Unidos- nos dirigimos al gobierno, pueblo de Honduras y otros pueblos del mundo, con el fin de hacer publico nuestro apoyo solidario al gobierno de Honduras por tomar una decision soberana de adherirse a la Alianza Bolivariana de las Americas- (ALBA). Consideramos que en estos momentos de gran crisis economica por la que atraviesa Honduras y los pueblos mas pobres del mundo, la ALBA simboliza un alivio que ayudara a mermar las condiciones de miseria y exclusion socioeconomicas en que viven la mayor parte de los hondurenos. Consideramos que la oligarquia nacional de Honduras en contubernio con las companias multinacionales causantes principales de la pobreza, han iniciado una campana de desinformacion nacional e internacional, implicando que la ALBA nos pondra en confrontacion con los EE.UU., que la propiedad privada estara en peligro, y hasta que la estadia de miles de hondurenos que viven en Estados Unidos esta en riego. Al contrario, nosotros como pueblo hondureno en el exterior, consideramos que la ALBA solo es una de las tantas iniciativas que necesita Honduras para impulsar un verdadero desarrollo sostenible que pueda sacar a Honduras del estado de pobreza en que vive la mayor parte de su poblacion. Segun cifras de Naciones Unidas- Honduras es el segundo pais mas pobre del hemisferio occidental con indice de analfabetismo de un cuarenta por ciento. Lamentablemente los politiqueros oportunistas de los partidos tradicionales, han visto una oportunidad de oro para llevar harina a su molino y estan buscando las formas de sabotear esta gran iniciativa, de buscar el progreso, desarrollo, e independencia economica- algo muy dignificante en la historia de Honduras. Consideramos que la ALBA, ayudara al desarrollo economico sostenible en Honduras, y ayudara a proveer empleos a los miles de hondurenos, mitigando la inmigracion progresiva de ciudadanos hondurenos que salen a vivir a otros paises- en busca de sobre vivencia, particularmente EE.UU. donde actualmente se desata una persecucion anti-inmigrante y donde hasta se le les violan sus derechos humanos. Consideramos oportuno, felicitar al Gobierno del Presidente Manuel Zelaya Rosales por tan valiente decision de trabajar junto al hermano pueblo y gobierno de Venezuela y demas paises que se han integrado a la Alianza Bolivariana de las America. Boston, Massachusetts: 5 de septiembre de 2008 Proyecto Hondureno de Massachusetts PUBLIC MANIFESTO We, Hondurans and Organizations in support of the people of Honduras, residing throughout the United States-direct ourselves to the Honduran Government,the people of Honduras and peoples of the world, in order to make public- our solidarity and support of the sovereign decision made by the Honduran government to join the Bolivarian Alliance of The Americas-(ALBA). We believe that at this time of great economic crisis faced by Honduras, as well as other nations around the world, the ALBA symbolizes a constructive relief effort that will help undermine the conditions that serve to generate poverty, exclusion and misery. The national oligarchy of Honduras in collusion with multinational companies- the propagators of poverty in our country, have launched a national and international campaign of misinformation, implying that the ALBA will put us at odds- even in direct confrontation with the United States, they have insinuated that private property will be in danger, and that thousands of Hondurans currently living in the United States are at risk. We however believe that the ALBA, will assist the sustainable economic development in Honduras, and help provide jobs to thousands of Hondurans, easing ongoing emigration that causes Honduran citizens to live in other countries - in search of survival, particularly the United States where a current anti-immigrant wave of persecution has been unleashed -even to the extent of violating human rights in some cases. According to UN statistics-Honduras is the second poorest country in the Western Hemisphere with an illiteracy rate forty percent. As Hondurans abroad, we take a contrary stand to that of the oligarchy and multinational companies. We believe that the ALBA , is only one of many initiatives needed in Honduras to promote- truly sustainable development- that will lift the welfare state of Hondurans currently living in poverty. Unfortunately, opportunistic politicians of the traditional parties, have seen a golden opportunity to bring flour to the mill and are looking for ways to sabotage this great initiative, one that seeks progress, development, and economic independence-something of dignity in the history Honduras. We congratulate the Government of President Manuel Zelaya Rosales for his decision to work alongside the people and government of Venezuela as well as the with the other countries that have joined the Bolivarian Alliance of The Americas.
