Name: Sheelagh Behan on Dec 1, 2009Comments: We would welcome a change in VHI policy that is inclusive of Homeopathy on a par with Acupuncture, Osteopathy etc, just as other healthcare insurers do.On a European level Homeopathy is used by approx. 25% of the population (see homeopathy-ecch.org and irishhomeopathy.ie).Flag

Name: Jean Clancy on Dec 1, 2009Comments: As a member of your VHI and a Homeopath, I feel it is time VHI health insurance should follow suit with the other competitive health insurance company. I feel bad when I have to inform my VHI clients they are not covered and the reason their friends are is because there are with a different insurance, that acknowledges Homeopathy as an important form of Complementary Medicine. Name: Bernie Owens on Dec 4, 2009Comments: As homoeopathy is my families first choice in health care as it is for many thousands of others in Ireland and worldwide I think that it is not appropriate for VHI to site lack of interest as the reason for not including homoeopathy as 1 of the covered alternative/complementary therapies offered in their health packages. I am holding all my receipts to send in for reimbursement . I cannot understand why VHI are discriminating against those of us who choose to take our health seriously and ultimately will cost the insurers less in claims as a result of bad health.Flag

Name: Renita Ade on Jan 31, 2010Comments: Years ago I discontinued my health insurance with VHI and changed to a different one which covers homoeopathy under `alternative therapies`. Those therapies to this day have helped me to stay healthy so that I did not have to claim a cent from my health insurance.Flag

Name: Fiona Balfe on Feb 1, 2010Comments: My family and I have been VHI custmers for 12 years. For the past 6 years we have visited a homeopath more often than our GP. Because of this we haven't spent enough money to get any money back from our GP visits and we can't get anything back for our homeopathy visits because VHI don't cover homeopathy. More and more people are going to homeopaths and I feel it would be of benefit to have them covered on their policies. It would allow people more of a choice for their own healthcare.Flag

Name: Veronica McNamara, Cork on Feb 1, 2010Comments: It doesn't make sense that VHI (unlike the other main insurers) doesn't subsidise a visit to a homeopath as part of a programme to reduce and prevent serious medical problems. By supporting such visits they would encourage people to look after their health and thus avoid costly conventional medical bills ... surely a realistic goal for an insurance company?Flag
