Anonymous | We do not need a facility of this type in Ashburn. My family has lived here for over 10 years and have NEVER seen a homeless person in Ashburn. The communities of Leesburg or Sterling would benefit more by having it in their community. There are way too many elementary schools within close proximity to this - we do not need to have a "lockdown" at school because of a "suspicious" person wandering around outside. It would just be a matter of time before this happens if you allow the shelter to come.
Anonymous | I am against the homeless shelter in Ashburn, Virginia
Mike an d Peggy Purcell | We moved to Ashburn because we wanted a safe place to raise our four children. With so many young families in this area , I worry about the shelter being placed here. Isn't there a location that will better provide resourses for the homeless?...in a larger city in the area?
Laura M. Miller | How does something like this happen without us knowing? Shame on our ELECTED officials for not informing us of this posiblity. If its not that bad than let them put in their backyard. I know this has influenced the way I voted today!

Sean Duritsa | Do not agree with location!
Anonymous | Ashburn in not an appropriate place to serve the homeless community. Like it or not, many of the homeless are mentally ill and prone to violence. This does not belong literally in my backyard.

Elizabeth Johnson | I do not think Ashburn is the appropriate place to locate a homeless shelter. I feel that the shelter has the potential to bring problems to Ashburn that do not currently exsist.

Amy Abbott | How many homeless are actually in Loudoun County? Wouldn't it make more sense to have this in Sterling?
Anonymous | I do not want a homeless shelter in the middle of a residential area. Please locate it closer to the areas it serves.
Anonymous | I do not approve the homeless shelter in Old Ashburn
Anonymous | Ashburn is not the place! Is unsafe for users of the WO&D Trail, children in nearby schools, and families at the nearby playground.
| 574 | John Roth | If we had a "Homeless" problem in our area, I would be all for it, but.....we don't have a homless
problem here, so let the them go to where the homeless problem is......Leesburg, Sterling, Herndon, Manassas,Fairfax, whereever....... |
| 575 | Anonymous | Please do not allow GSA to operate the Thrift Store or the Homeless Shelter in an area that will not effectively provide assistance to those who need it.
Some of the numerous reasons not to allow GSA to provide these services in Ashburn are Safety, Economics, and Common Sense. |
Grace Roth | Keep it in Leesburg

Don Bauernfeind | GSA has got to move, that space would be better served as additional space for the Ashburn Fire House
Anonymous | This definitely does not seem like the best location for such a shelter. I know I will never let my wife and kids go for a walk on the W&OD trail with such a shelter with recently released prisoners, recovering drug addicts, etc. nearby.

Mike Cox | Any shelter should be located where the homeless came from. I've lived in Ashburn for 18 years and have never seen a homeless person here that I'm aware of. I also think it should be in a non-residential area so as minimize the impact on residents, especially children. With the homeless, recently released prisoners, drug addicts, etc. being brought in I think the danger to children and an increase in crime should be obvious to anyone paying attention.

Pamela Cresine | Absolutely not in my neighborhood, near my children and with my tax money. Why don't you consider running out of the county building in Leesburg in your own offices?
Anonymous | Keep those bastards out of my neighborhood. Send them to Sterling--they'll never notice the increase in crime.
