AnonymousLet's say the College leases space to several groups who want to hold a Holocaust Conference. And after the contract is signed, Fr. McFarland finds out that among the speakers will be several anti-semitic Holocaust deniers. Does anyone have the slightest doubt that he would: 1. break the contract to prevent the Holocaust denier from being allowed a platform on Holy Cross grounds?, or 2. allow the conference to go forward only on the condition that the holocaust denier not be allowed to particpate? The dehumanization of the unborn child and of the Jews in Europe are closely related evils. Holy Cross should not have anything to do with either in any way shape or form.
Tom JenkinsOver 20 years ago I took the step to convert and become a member of the Catholic Church. I no small part that decision was influenced by the church's seemingly solid stand against the killing of unborn children through abortion. A procedure often hidden with the rhetoric of "comprehensive pregnancy prevention services" and "a woman's right to choose." It appalls me to see this solid stand weakened by college presidents and others within the church who defy their Bishops and other church leadership under the banner of inclusiveness. We are members of a doctrinally based religious organization that is and always should be exclusive. Respect for its leadership and their position are part of that doctrine and should not be allowed to be cast aside by the whims of those who choose to disagree. If you are not willing to abide by the dictates of the church leadership than it is time to get out of the church. Those willing to defy their Bishops should resign rather than divide the church.
Stephen & Sharon SheehyRemove Fr. McFarland from Holy Cross and reclaim its' true Catholic Identity! There is no justification for his constant "uncatholic choices". Pope John Paul II, said not to abandon those colleges who have become so lax in their beliefs. But take them back, and reinstate those core values that we hold so dear to our hearts as a True Catholic Institution!
Steven & Cecilia WostenbergFr. McFarland, Please don't allow Planned Parenthood trash the minds of our young people. There are many good Catholic Groups that will be happy to go to your Campus. I know God will guide you to make the right choice. Please pray about it.
Donald NelsonIf Planned Parenthood is permitted to come to Holy Cross, then Holy Cross has forfeited the right to be called a Catholic College.
Christine H. DailyPlease cancel the Oct. 24th event. Planned Parenthood is not welcomed.

Lynn HindmanFather McFarland, Shame on you! Have you not learned the Theology of the Body? It is quite obvious that you need to listen to our Holy Father and learn our Catholic teaching on sexuality. I will pray for you and those many students you are responsible for....for there will come a time when people will no longer listen to truth...but instead turn to teachers who "tickle" their ears.... You are responsible for feeding your flock food from the gutter, planned parenthood speaks the lies of Satan. We are saturated in culture of death how can you invite them in to a Catholic campus?
Gerald J Lawaty Jr
Katelyn McDonaldThe Catholic Church should be united and strong in its belief... please do not cause more division or lead anyone astray by allowing this to happen!! God bless, you're in my prayers.
Philip FischerFr. McFarland, There is absolutely no common ground between a Christian institution and Planned Parenthood. It would bring disgrace and Scandal to Holy Cross if they were accepted on the campus. I urge you to cancel any current and future invitations to them or to the Massachusetts Alliance on Teen Pregnancy.
Scott SchneiderFr. McFarland, What does your heart lie, with the Catholic Church or with the pro-abortion forces of Planned Parenthood? Planned Parenthood and anybody associated with them deserves to be shunned from Holy Cross. THEY are NOT aligned with the best interests of the education of Catholics! You are a Priest. Do you not owe the students of the University that you are president of, the moral teachings of the Catholic Church and not the pro-abortion, secular message that is carried by the Massachusetts Alliance on Teen Pregnancy? You've sold your soul to the devil. I've had it with people like you who call yourselves Priests and run supposedly private college campuses morally amuk!!
Rosemary Andries HorstmannI am writing for myself and for my deceased father, Raymond M. Andries, who loved his alma mater, Holy Cross.
Gerald LissPlease do not allow Planned Parenthood to your campus. Maitnain your principals.
Mike DrakeFr. McFarland, Planned Parenthood is the greatest concentration of organized evil in the world today. Not to cancel the Massachusettes Alliance on Teen Pregnancy seminar is to be complicit in this evil. Please cancel today and put an end to this arm of the Culture of Death.
Mark NapierkowskiFr. McManus, if i am accurately informed, you state that "the strategy of some pro-life groups to shun Planned Parenthood and thus discredit them in the public eye, however justified in theory, has been a miserable failure." A failure in what objective? You seem to be suggesting that there may be a more sensible alternative that might result in a more positive outcome in the fight against this group. What might that alternative be? I trust that you are not actually an advocate of their true mission, which is principally to continue serving as the chief sponsor of infant chop-shops, and the prince-peddler of junk-sex for our young souls. I further trust that you have already become intimately familiar with the well-publicized genesis of this organization and its foundress, Ms. Margaret Sanger, as well as her ethos and principles. Compare this darkness to the bright light and intellectual splendor of our own John Paull II, whose Theology of the Body is given to Truth, while Planned Parenthood's goal is to extricate sex from its intended purpose and serve the vices of lust and pride. This is not complicated, Fr. McManus. Find the courage of your true Catholic conviction to rightly deny this group access to your campus. And if you fail to find this courage, at least demonstrate the good sense to invite Christopher West to campus, so that he can undo the damage inflicted by Planned Parenthood. Many people will be praying and fasting in reparation for your sin, and in supplication that you will decide for Christ, rather than for his Adversary. In Prayer through the Blessed Mother, Mark in Bethlehem, PA

Miguel GarciaSeveral of my friends are Holy Cross alumni and I was very dismayed that a Catholic College, led by a priest of Jesus Christ, no less, is willing to give space to two of the most powerful organizations behind the abortion holocaust. A question for Fr. McFarland: would you have agreed to rent out space for the Nazis to expound on their views just because shunning them had "been a miserable failure" in the culture at large? Please, Father, think of the MILLIONS of children that die each year in Planned Parenthood abortuaries. It is not too late to change your mind!

Greg SleyI fully support the position of Raymond Ruddy and others who have asked you, Fr. McFarland, to cancel the Massachusetts Alliance on Teen Pregnancy at College of the Holy Cross. It is a disgrace that you continue to insist on hosting this event after you have been informed of it's true nature, with direct contradictions to the teachings of the Catholic Church, AND after being requested by your own bishop. You claim to respect the bishop's office, but I see that you only pay him lip service by your knowingly and willfully disobeying him and the Church. God expects you to say 'yes' and to do His will, not your own. Why do you insist on doing wrong? This conference has the potential to cause harm to impressionable minds. God is amazingly generous. Despite your doing wrong, He is still holding out his hand to you: He has already provided very generously, via Raymond Ruddy's offer, to provide any funds needed to cancel the event and/or legal fees. All you need to do is say 'yes'. God is waiting. Sincerely, Gregory Sley

Rachel ThompsonFather McFarland, While I appreciate your desire to remain friendly and kind to all, this is quite different then what you are doing. You are providing an open forum for an organization who had NEVER had respect for life to come and spread lies and destruction. In no way should any woman or man of faith support such an organization that has never had RESPECT FOR LIFE. I hope that you will reconsider your decision.
Joseph C DonovanFather, I am appalled that a representative of Christ Jesus who loves the little children would let such an event involving Planned Parentlhood and NARAL occur. Please reconsider your position and ban PP and the NARAL from the campus. Thanks---Joe
BRIDGHE K MARTINI BEG YOU IN THE NAME OF ALL THAT IS HOLY TO KEEP THE DEVIL AWAY FROM YOUR DOOR. IF YOU ALLOW THESE FOLKS TO INVADE YOUR CAMPUS YOU MIGHT AS WELL BE BRINGING THE DEVIL.
Tiffiny GullaDear Fr. McFarland, I urge you and pray for you and the students, with the hearts of Jesus and Mary, to reconsider the attendance of these groups on your premises!! Do not have Planned Parenthood and NARAL come to Holy Cross, it will be a desecration to a Catholic College! Please reconsider, we only have so many places for purity and honest, moral teachings left in this world, especially for our young adults. (They will learn of these types of places and their agendas from the world.) Sincerely and prayerfully yours, Tiffiny Gulla
chris dickinsonDearest Fr. McFarland, Please cancel this event. I must follow the teachings of the Church by supporting Her. No matter how we feel we must set aside our personal feeling and let Christ show us truth. This being said, if you seek a difference of goodness.....decisions that are humbling and difficult to make more than not, are the ways of Christ's path....following is always the hardest. Tread lightly because you are a representative of Christ's Church. Humbly, Chris Dickinson
AnonymousI do not support Planned Parenthood on College campuses.

Mark PfeiferI hope for his sake that Fr. McFarland's pragmatism is genuine and sincere, not cynical and self-serving. To suggest that the Catholic Church should cooperate with groups like NARAL and Planned Parenthood, and try to find some common ground, is laughable on its face. I wonder if NARAL would allow Fr. McFarland to appear at their meetings to explain the Church's doctrine on abortion and contraception? I wonder if he would, given the opportunity? Fr. McFarland you are bringing shame on Holy Cross and dishonoring the generations of practicing Catholics that your College has produced over generations.
Joan LaudadioDear Fr. McFarland, A Catholic insitution should uphold the beliefs and morals of the Catholic Church. Therefore, Planned Parenhood should NOT be allowed to participate in any activities that are held by such institutions.
Ed DuncanWhat in God's name is Holy Cross doing? If you're not going to be Catholic or even intellectually rational, then you should change the name of this once great university.
Celeste MilneFr. McFarland must know the truth and discredit PP at every turn. The devil makes evil look good and good look evil. I pray he can see through the smokescreen of PP/Naral. Celeste Milne, Flint, MI

Sandra JohnsonPlease don't allow Planned Parenthood to visit Holy Cross. Please don't commit this great sin.
Bill BaileyI have followed Hoy Cross University for over 60 years. This is a discrace to the reputation that so many others before this administration have worked so hard to establish. Please cancel this event and allow the school to keep it's good name.

Juanita VargasFr. McFarland, as Shepherd of your sheep I would think that you would want to be providing a clearer path for your sheep to God our Father. Instead it appears that your enabling obstacles and detours for them. I will pray for you.

John P. WardPlanned Parenthood is dangerous to the moral health of all young people. Please cancel the MA Alliance on Teen Pregnancy seminar scheduled to be held at Holy Cross College this week.
Bob GieseyDear Fr. McFarland - I know you have your reasons for allowing the seminar by the Massachuetts Alliance on Teen Pregnancy, but I would ask you as a Fellow Catholic to cancel this seminar. As you are well aware there is no where in the Scriptures that support abortion. I thank the Lord that your mother and my mother did not have the opportunity to deal with their pregnancies in such a cavalier attitude. Yours in Christ - BobGiesey
Therese V. BurchI realize this has been going on for 7 yrs.. But this a wolf in sheeps clothing!!!!! It looks like it's a good thing but it's really not! Please do not allow these people on your campus. It only confuses the minds of our young people. Look at their web site for heavens sake!!!!!! As a parent sending thier Catholic student off to college next year I plan to cross Holy Cross off our list. Thank You.

JudyAllowing Planned Parenthood to hold a pro-abortiion seminar on a Catholic college campus is going against the Church's teachings on pro-life issues. This cannot be allowed to happen. I am urging you to cancel this event for the sake of our impresionable young adults.
AnonymousAbortion is against God's fifth commandment which is Thou Shalt not Kill.
dawn stineI am so upset that a Catholic school would promote this anti-Catholic, anti-life position. As a currently pregnant mother of 5 I am deeply hurt and afraid for the future of Catholic education for my children!
AnonymousDear Father McFarland, What I have always like about the Catholic Church is that they, to my knowledge, have always had the integrity to say "this is wrong" and stand by it, thereby reinforcing the idea that there is actually such a thing as right and wrong--an idea quicky fading in our world. Abortion is wrong, and so are the abortion providers. You allowing them on your campus is wrong. That is what I was taught growing up Catholic anyway. Unless I misheard something all those Sundays in church.
Alice ZeigerFr. McFarland, As President of Holy Cross College, you will be held to account if you are the cause of the students under your authority to sin. The scripture states that it were better that such a one be tied with a millstone around this neck and thrown into the depths of the sea. Think about it!
