| 701 | Kathy Shea | Below is my email sent to studentsforlife.org.
It states my concerns.
To Fr. McFarland and the Board:
Please make a decision,
As the Levites had to do to those who returned to the
calf.
As many other loyal people had to do, by martyrdom, to
witness to their love of God.
Even priests can go to hell, as Moses did not go into
the Promised land, because he did not obey God and
struck the rock (twice) vs talking to it as God had
commanded. God expects MORE from the leaders and they
have the SOULS of those under them on their very own
soul.
THINK about it quickly!! while God is giving you time.
May God shed many abundant blessings on you, who have
already declared your life for Him, and used your
precious being to consecrate the bread and wine into
HIM. May He open your mind from this evil and give
you the gift of discernment.

Please do not allow Planned Parenthood to present at your college. A Catholic college should not be inviting someone with their viewpoint to speak. It is damaging to the students minds and souls. As Catholics, especially you as a priest, we should not encourage this behavior. Jesus ate with sinners and forgave them, but he never encouraged them to continue in their sin. He never tolerated sin. A Catholic college should never even let Planned Parenthood near its students. It is your job to get those students to heaven. Is this the way to do that? |
| 704 | Deborah A. Hinnenkamp | Dear Fr. McFarland,
Allowing Massachusetts Alliance on Teen Pregnancy to hold their seminar on your campus opens the doors to a culture of death sponsored by Planned Parenthood and NARAL. You, ineffect, are giving your blessing to surgical abortion, chemical abortion in the form of the pill and other so-called birth control(which cause early abortion of fertilized eggs), sexually transmitted diseases, and pregnancy out of wedlock. It has been proven time and time again, when reproductive rights groups such as Planned Parenthood are invited on campus, all the afore mentioned things increase dramatically. You are giving your students your blessing to participate in risky sexual activity which is against Catholic teaching and contrary to their health. Please reconsider your decision, and cancel this seminar for the sake of your students.

| 707 | Karen Yorkshaitis | To allow pro-abortion talks on a Catholic Campus
ought to cost you your position. I have councilled women who have undergone abortion and it ruined lives. This put shame on the Church. |
| 708 | John and Mary Jo Thayer | Dear Father McFarland and Board of Trustees,
We continue to be appalled that so-called Catholics think it is okay for mothers to murder their own children. Somehow the point has been missed that the womb is the most sacred and safe place on earth, or at least it should be regarded as such. If Catholics do not protect the lives of the most defenseless in our society, who will?
With four children at or soon to be at college age, rest assured that your institution will never see a penny of God's money that He has entrusted to us to lead souls to heaven.
We urge you to cancel the program which supports and encourages mothers to murder. |
| 709 | Leo Blumhagen | Now is the time for your College to stand up for Catholic Teachings, remember you will be judged by your actions and lack ther of. To whom more is given more is expected. |

| 713 | William F. Brennan '53 | I have had correspondence with Fr. McFarland previously regarding similar situations. He won't bend unless discipline is forced on him. I sent an e-mail to Bishop McManus expressing my opinon. Although proud of my Catholic, Jesuit education, I recognize the current administration does not share that pride. I wrote the Bishop as follows:
Your Excellency:
I graduated from Holy Cross in 1953. I have watched my Alma Mater sink into the sewer of apostasy. With great regret, based on my correspondence with Father McFarland, I come to the bitter conclusion that "my college" is no longer Catholic!
This latest refusal of Father McFarland and the administration at the College of the Holy Cross to your request to cancel the "workshop," sinks the issue of its Catholicity. This is one of a recurring series of scandals which the College seems to relish and defend with the time worn excuse of "Academic Freedom."
In his reply, Father McFarland offers his usual statement, "As an institution of higher learning, we are dedicated to the open exchange of ideas. As a Jesuit college, Holy Cross is committed to its mission of engaging with the larger culture on even the most problematic and divisive of moral and spiritual issues." Notice, no mention of Catholic moral and spiritual issues!
The problem with this reply is the failure of the College to actually "engage" the larger culture. Father would rather allow the Massachusetts Alliance on Teen Pregnancy to conduct their "workshops" without any meaningful discussion of Catholic doctrine. Father McFarland has been less than truthful on many previous occasions in supporting his "academic freedom" argument. He fails to remember his basic Catechism that truth is found within the Catholic Church!
Dear Bishop McManus, with great sorrow, I ask you to take that difficult step and declare the College of the Holy Cross no longer Catholic.

| 715 | Robert McDonald | I graduated from Fairfield University, another fine Jesuit school, in 1969; my brother, who is a Holy Cross graduate (1965) and I are appalled that the Mass Alliance on Teen Pregnancy seminar is being held on Oct 24th on the Holy Cross campus. It is imperative that this event be cancelled. |
| 716 | Kathryn Cox | Planned Parenthood yields to the concept of abstinence.
The other 99 per cent of their mission is to instruct, guide and supply women with the means to abort pregnancy.
Would Christ lend the platform of His Holy Cross for their voice?
Maybe the platform of the Holy Cross is better suited for the sanctity of Life......... |
| 717 | Pamela Brink | I can't believe a Catholic college would actually be considering such an event on campus...are you Roman Catholic or Anglo catholic.... |
| 718 | Elaine Szlosek | I ask that all Catholic Colleges not lose sight of the mission to educate students not in a politically correct way, but about God's way. |

The Catholic Church has stood the corruption of every known evil throughout time and it will again with this obvious transgression. My hope is that the mercy of our Father will enlighten you and bring about conversion before your error costs your immortal sould. Kathie Kelly |

Obey and respect the bishop of your diocese. |
| 742 | F. J. McCloskey | As president of a Catholic college, your obligation is to the Church and the families who pay for their child's solid Catholic education which opposes Planned Parenthood, NARAL and Alliance on Teen Pregnancy. Time to step down, Fr. McFarland, if you can't live up. |
| 743 | Julia Johnson | |
| 744 | mary navarra | Fr. McFarland should respect the students paying to attend a catholic college. He needs to move onto an institution that supports his personal philosophy. Holy Cross is losing potiential students as well as current ones because Fr.McFarland seeks to implement his value system in oppisition to his bishop and pope. |

| 749 | Bob Ulicki | Fr. McFarland,
You MUST follow the teachings of Jesus Christ, especially as a President of a catholic college. As a Catholic priest you are not free to pick what teachings you will help promote. Allowing seminars that promote specific non Catholic views at your campus is, I'm sad to say, a sinful act on your part. It is very much the same as Catholic politicians promoting Abortion as a valid Pro Choice option. |
| 750 | Elizabeth Nolan, class of 1980 | We need Holy Cross to recover with joy its Catholic identity and to raise a prophetic voice that advocates for the poorest of the poor- the unborn child. |
