Students at BCAM High School should not be forced to stay in the cafeteria when they are 15 minutes late to school. Being that class periods are 62 minutes long, it is not fair that a student must miss up to 47 minutes of a class they could have gotten if allowed upstairs. It's bad enough that they were unfortunately late to school and missed the first 15 minutes. After all, sitting in the cafeteria, talking to friends, playing around, is not helping students at all. In fact, what kind of mind set do you think it puts students into? One of focus? No, for, they began the day relaxing with friends and they end it the same way. Also, it is crucial to note that many times teachers are just beginning their class at 8:45 or later, depending on the length of the morning meeting, students' arrival and other external factors. In conclusion, to miss a whole class first period is just plan dumb and needs to be readjusted.
