Name: Michelle Jenks on Mar 5, 2013Comments: My daughter just received her letter yesterday. But earlier that day was at FSCJ signing up for her next classes. They told her she had a hold on her account and could not sign up for her next classes or walk in May unless she paid her bill. She is a single mother and goes to school and works part time. She should not have to pay FSCJ back the money when it was their mistake to begin with. They even admitted to it in the letter they sent out. Do we want to meet and make signs and protest what is going on? My email is scobij@aol.com please let us know. I am also trying to find a lawyer who handles class action law suits. If I find one maybe we can all pitch in so it won’t cost so much and fight FSCY for their mistake. What do you all think?Flag

Name: Marisa McKenna on Mar 5, 2013Comments: I am relieved to know that there are other students who are as outraged as I am and who's initial reaction was to do something about it! When I lost a grant, it was while I was attending JU. I was told I had to pay a certain amount, which I did, and that was all my debt to them. I was then smacked with an appeal by FSCJ claiming it is their debt that I owe them now. They are a bunch of theives.Flag

Name: Faith Quinn on Mar 5, 2013Comments: FSCJ receives a great deal of funds to provide a service - an education. This is no different than any other business. We are the customers, we make payments - - it is their responsibility to properly handle those funds and let students know in advance what they should expect to pay PRIOR to receiving the "service" (course). If any other business came back to the customer after the fact and said "We gave you the impression that your payment was acceptable, but you now owe us $1,000 more because we made a mistake", they wouldn't have a leg to stand on in court. This is nuts. The college needs to assume responsibility and consider this a loss. People are already struggling to get an education to further their personal goals and create a good life - this is going to be a major set-back.... all because of a greedy college. I feel for those that are in this position!Flag

Name: Donna Scott on Mar 5, 2013Comments: FSCJ IS responsible. They failed to properly train staff and inform students. It is incredibly unreasonable and unfair to expect students to incur such a debt. Accept the loss and move forward - DO NOT penalize students that rely on receiving proper guidance from their college.Flag

Name: Candace White on Mar 5, 2013Comments: Students should not be held responsible. Even a payment plan is unfair on the student if they were mis-lead into taking a class and found out later that this decision cost them hundreds/thousands of dollars! How unfair - Shame on this college.Flag

Name: Leslie Cowart on Mar 5, 2013Comments: FSCJ employees signed off and asked the government for the money - they are the one's that accepted and requested these government funds in error - - the FRAUD is completely their reponsibility! And it is unethical to turn to the students and put this burden on them.Flag

If you can't keep up with that inforamtion, hwo do you expect people to realize that these are (or are not)legitimate collection efforts. You look very unorganized.Flag
