Name: Patti Blevins on Mar 4, 2013Comments: I agree. My husband left me and after divorce I went without child support for over a year. It hit hard financially ( his $80,000 salary and mine being $25,000) raising children alone. Daycare alone cost 720.00 a month! I thought getting a degree could equal more earnings to take care of us and keep us off welfare. I would have never taken some of those classes if I knew I had to pay for them and put us in further debt! To owe more money before you even receive the degree has put people further behind financially than they started. This is so sad. Not to mention time and effort for classes you cannot even receive transcripts for.Flag

I will be writing and calling my entire local and national representative until FSCJ assume full responsibility for their neglect.Flag

The school should be responsible due to the fact that the students are not savvy to the ins and outs of federal disbursement standards. Shame on FSCJ!!Flag

I am also taking the correct courses for my AA degree. I do not plan on paying, and neither should anyone else.Flag

Name: Zachary Brusky on Mar 5, 2013Comments: My message to First Coast News: Hi guys, a while back I had a big issue I told you about with FSCJ. I thought it was resolved but now they are back telling me I owe over $6000 in back financial aid (which I am recieving as a Navy veteran using the post 9/11 gi bill). They say it is due to an error by the college as financial aid appeals were apparantly invalid even after being approved all the way up the ladder. This is all confusing to me. I have already submitted an appeal to the initial message from months ago and have not heard anything from that and the college refuses to work with me to help me understand how an error on their part turns in to me being in debt to them over $6000 while they threaten to not release my transcripts to UNF which will completely destroy my benefits for college, progress, and family income?! Please help I am a full time student, full time employee, father of 2, veteran and my family's sole income comes from me with the help of these benefits. Sincerely, Zach BruskyFlag
