In any other work setting a "shutdown" of an employee would be seen as a means for termination. The worker would be let go without benefits or pay and a new, more qualified person would then be given the available position. These consequences should be the same for members of Congress. Congress is suppose to represent the voice of the people and after the shutdown last week Florida has realized that the words being shouted by the people are not the words being voiced by our Congressional Representative. This communication error has gone on long enough and we the people of the state of Florida have decided that the government shutdown caused by Congress is our representatives form of resignation. Since the seat, in the eyes of Floridians, is open, we the people of the state of Florida petition the United States government to hold an emergency election for the Congressional seat in Florida. We hope to fill this seat with someone who will work for the people of Florida to better, not only our state but, the United States as a whole.
