Do they not see how many people are losing their jobs and possibly homes.!!!Flag

How nice would it be to be able to have so much money in the bank that simply not working for an entire year because you didn't like the way the office was being run...?Flag

Name: Elnur on Oct 26, 2012Comments: Jan21kris I swear to God, Bettman can't differentiate a good hoekcy market from a large television market. The NHL's strategy for the past 20 years was clearly to try to get NHL teams in all the major media markets and all of a sudden -wham!- Americans would demand NHL games on the major networks and it would rain money all over Bettman. Jr. would sing Are you ready for some hoekcy??! Of course, it will never happen, but don't tell Gary, cause he thinks if it happened to the NBA, it can happen to the NHL.Interestingly, according to Wikipedia -citing Radio TV world- Edmonton is a larger TV market than Calgary, but I'd imagine not by much. Also, Winnipeg and Quebec are even smaller TV markets than Calgary and Edmonton and Ottawa. And adding a team to Hamilton doesn't get you into more media markets than you're already in, since it's lumped in with Toronto. See a pattern? With Bettman it's all about moving into the major media markets:San Jose/San Francisco, Atlanta, The two Florida teams are all huge markets. Unfortunately, Atlanta and the two Florida teams have mixed records with ticket revenue.Columbus and Nashville are sort of exceptions, I guess; they'r the 29th and 34th largest markets in the U.S. respectively. Houston, 9th, and Cleveland 17th are larger media markets in the same region. So the NHL isn't always media market mad, I guess.Flag

Gary, I think we can all agree that while Edmonton is a great hockey city, nobody cares about the Oilers, so when the draft rolls around I think every smart hockey fan can agree that rigging the lottery for Boston's Toronto pick is the way to go. My question is: where do you buy those great suits!Flag

The funny thing is even though it would be riilculousdy easy to put together an intersting radio show that would help sell the team and generate interest, the team doesn't even try. BTW, in my opinion, Stauffer isn't a whole lot better than Tencer, he just sounds a little smarter. And it just me or is Stauffer the only guy on radion whose voice sounds fat? I mean, how do you sound fat like that? It's impressive.Flag
