Name: Linda Fowler on Sep 30, 2011Comments: We complete our sentence for our crime. There should be no one on the outside that should be able to continue punishing us. I have a lot to offer an employer but even after 2 year out, all I find are brick walls. I have 34 yrs. in accounting/office management/consulting but because I now have a felony from 2003 I have been deemed unemployable. Where's the justice in that?Flag

Name: Paris Vaughn on Oct 24, 2011Comments: If a person is trying to better him/herself why not give them a chance. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Why stand in the way of a person trying to get on the right track; you could be that person that makes a poor decision and your life be for ever changed. You would want the same opportunity. We all make mistakes some more costly than others. But if you've learned from your mistake and you want to redeem yourself you should be given that chance.Flag

Name: Tiffany on Oct 27, 2011Comments: My husband currently has a felony on his record, due to him driving without a license. It is awful that this small mistake is holding us back so much. I understand he should suffer the consequences of his actions, but come on. We are not a negative family, but it just gets frustrating. This petition is an excellent approach at making a difference. Lets all keep faith and keep our heads up even though it can be difficult to look down sometimes!!Flag

Name: Ricardo on Oct 29, 2011Comments: My felony is driving without a license. It has been so difficult finding a job. I have a wife and 2 kids. I love my family and I am a hard worker, but no one is willing to give me a shot. Everyone deserves a second chance and we all make mistakes. Some more severe than others, but we still make them. I never thought that this one would have effected me as much it has. Please help and reconsider hiring felons. Thank you.Flag

Name: Anthony Wallers on Dec 8, 2011Comments: I have been convicted for a felony at age 18 for a high school fight. Ever since then it has been impossible to find a job. There is absolutley NO reason to hire an applicant becasue the have a felony other than isssues with an employers insurance company not covering someone with a criminal history. If you bring the EEOC fidelity bond with you to an employer when they bring up the issue of ones conviction, the indivual should be hired, if not its nothing but discrimination. Its funny how they say "rehabilitation" but as soon as an offender is deemed rehabilitated there background says otherwise. There S.O.L. I seen many employers hire illegal immagrants but turn down felonies. Its absolutley rediculous.Flag

I hope all of your signatures go through. I am surprised there are only 288. We need to make this subject more announced and make people more aware of the growing problem with handing down felonies for every little thing today in the Indiana judicial system.Flag

Name: Qiana on Jan 17, 2012Comments: When people do try to change, they get knocked back down to the point of wanting to return to their old ways. If they cannot find employment what is the other option. I think if they show they are trying to change people should give them a chance. Felons are normally the ones willing to work anywhere because they don't have a choice.Flag

Name: Anthony Lawson on Feb 20, 2012Comments: U need to use me as an example to stop judging people cause she judged me and was wrong about everything about me what bothers me is the state says jail is supposed to "rehabilitate" me, I did my time and served my debt to society, I'm fixed right? aren't I rehabilitated? then why is it I still can't find a job, just about everybody in any work place has done something illegal, only difference is I got caught, good people do make bad choices and in my case I did what I did to survive and keep food in my stomach, when dogs are at a shelter and they don't feel that dog is ready to go to a home they will try to "rehabilitate" the dog, if it works the dog gets a new life and is given a second chance at life, why can we give animals second chances but not the people who make the world go round, change comes to those who want change, and I want change.Flag
