| 451 | Amanda | Smith | LA | I am truly glad that such a group as yours exists. I have always been concerned about the messages that volatile, aggressive rap sends to the youths and even the people my age. I just did not believe that I had the resources to reach others. Thankfully, you all have proven me wrong. Peace. |

| 454 | Angela | Jean-Louis | GA | It is time that we take back our communities and stop complaining and allowing a "minority" group to control our minds! |
| 455 | Tim | Watson | IL | We need this to succeed. Hip hop is the most creative genre of music currently and it needs proper representation rather than those that bastardize it. It was never meant to be negative and it needs to be uplifted just as our people need to be uplifted. Positive messages and images perpetuate themselves just as negative ones do. If we want hip hop and those that listen to it to project a positive image then we need to support those who try to do so. |

| 484 | Mike | Pratt | MD | If we want to save the babies, we will promote unity and positive growth just as the original emcees did. We started wearing African medallions and speaking of GOD, then it went to the Gangsta mentality which suits the powers that be. They will no longer have to hunt us, we kill ourselves because the nonsense on the radio says that that is what being black is about. We must remember the research of Dr. Kenneth Clark and others who have evidence that the images of us in the media mold who we are and how we feel about ourselves. Many of our children have resigned to the fact that they are second class and that is OK because as a second class citizen I can use double negatives, dress sloppy, never strive to improve themselves because the images on the video, shows, etc. demonstrate that this is cool and that there is money involved in lowering yourself. There is a pride now because everything that past generations worked and died for is out of style with the youth. Being responsible for knowledge or each other is old style. Our images are speeding self-genocide. More positive Hip Hop will remedy our circumstance as it started to do in the early to late 1980's. Develop media strategies that will improve the images of ourselves along with an overhaul of current educational practices will go a long way to help our grandchildren. Right now we can only plant the seed again. Tend to our seeds and limit their exposure to ALL MEDIA, ensuring that only the positive images filter through. We need to start building that nation again. Stop turning toward the bling bling. Do not build yourself a 15 room mansion, build 15 smaller homes for our people who are completely disenfranchised. My company takes this charge seriously. This is the same reason we can not get mainstream play. Many will say that the indie talent is not up to par. That is nonsense. Alot of emcees are good but speak the truth, therefore are censored. The more soldiers the better. We do not need any more NIGGAS. We are the Kings and Queens of the Planet, but most of the youth I meet will almost fight you if you call them African American. But will smile and give you a pound if you say Whats up my nigga. That is why the education of our youth needs to be solely our responsibility. The style of learning is out dated and based on there being a second class. We will not break free of the stigma of the images of blacks if we do not re educate our youth on what it is to be black in America. To have pride in who we are and where we from, then they will strive to be the best because they are. They have to believe it. We have been continuously beaten into second class not physically but mentally. When you control one's mind you need not control the body. We need to regain control over our children's minds. We need more positive images of ourselves to counteract the the visual and audio poison our children deal with daily. |
