Name: Donald MacIver on Dec 2, 2010Comments: I feel that there is a serious problem in the Western Isles with the lack of affordable housing for rent. There is also a lack of funding to enable first time buyers the chance to be able to own their own homes outright under a first time buyer scheme. I feel that there would be huge demand for an affordable first time buyer home scheme if buyers were offered the option to purchase a 2 or 3 bed new build properety for around £60 - 70K instead of having to pay market value on small ex local authority housing which is in a poor state of repair at rediculous prices of £90 - 110k which is the cheap end of the market!Flag

Name: Jessica Evans on Dec 3, 2010Comments: I think there should be more affordable housing becasue my fiance and I are living at my parents home on the westside. We used to live at Willowglen road but the rent was just too much to stay. We were paying £500 but with me being out of work and my fiance being a taxi driver we made the rent every month but didnt have enough money for council tax, electric and food.Flag

Name: James Collier on Sep 2, 2011Comments: It is currently ridiculous, I am a 30yo male and I am trying to get custody of my son but I might lose my house because the rent is £600 per month and the government will only pay £390. I have tried everything to get a job and am considering college but the college are unlikely to pay that much either.Flag
