For many people, the only reason they clicked on this link was because they were interested in the picture or heard about it through some source. Many people don't know what conflict minerals are and everyone is too busy to read full length pages or watch video's, so instead they stay blind to the reality of what is going on. Here are some facts about the war being waged in

Eastern Congo
  • 5 1/2 million deaths (same amount of Jews killed during Holocaust)
  • millions of women raped and sexually abused
  • millions of kids enslaved and working in awful conditions
  •  Eastern Congo (South Africa) is one of the worlds most deadliest places as of right now
________________________________________________________________
  • Why? Because of Rebel Groups being fueled through conflict minerals
  • What are conflict-minerals? Gold, Tin, Tantalum, and Tungsten
  • These are used to make electronic devices like phones, t.v's, computers, etc...
  • How are conflict-minerals fueling the war? Rebel groups take control of mines and then smuggle the minerals they receive to neighboring countries and sell them to make profit
  • these profits are then used to purchase weapons and other aid for these rebel groups to maintain control
  • Who can stop this? YOU can, if we come together, inform our friends and family share this petition and all like it, and make this crisis known. Companies like Nitendo, Sharp, HTC, and all others alike, will be left with no choice other than to switch to conflict-free minerals in order to regain public support
  • By electronic companies switching to conflict-free minerals, the funding that these rebel groups have will be lost
  • You can't fire a gun with no ammo.
  • Will getting conflict-free minerals be more expensive? Yes/No (most of you are already thinking "that means yes", but hear me out) the switch to Conflict-Free minerals means that the companies will research and investigate the supply chain of their products. Same minerals from the same origin but with a different distributor.
  • Would you buy a product that contributes to the enslavement of children and the rape of women if there was an alternative identical to it that didn't do those things?
  • Support this movement, share it with people, research it, or contribute to it. Your signature matters, I know it doesn't come with any rewards other than satisfaction but isn't that enough? Do all good deeds need to come with an entry for the latest "toy"?

  • Let me end this with a commonly-used approach. What if you were in their shoes?
  • Women: Would you like living every day in fear of being raped, molested, beaten, or even killed? Most women don't even walk the streets of cities at night because of this fear.
  • Men: Providing for your family, keeping them safe, protecting yourself... all of these things cross through your minds one way or another and because we did something about there are laws, regulations, and wages in place to help us achieve these goals. What if your child had to work in the mine where they could be hurt or killed? What if your significant other was raped, hurt, or murdered? What if you lived in fear everyday that you would die?
  • Even if you don't care about this, if you think it's the right thing to do then please... sign this petition.
