   Comments: I use these type of local supermarkets as little as possible because they do not offer value for money. Fruit and veg in Sainsbury's is expensive & often past its best; there's a lot of unhealthy fast food on the shelves and I'd far rather support our local shops than see Tesco's open in Herne Hill.

    Comments: The big supermarket chains' aim is to destroy all independents and monopolise local retail: do we eventually want a 'Mall'? This is where we are heading..Herne Hill Sunday Market has charachter and is popular and shows what people really want, not bland commercialism. Will you get harissa and kalamata olives,, tamarind paste and four kinds of mayonnaise in Tesco? you will find them in Best in independent. Tesco will be a retrograde step, and irreversible.

    Comments: I live on Carver Road, right across from the proposed Tescos. We don't need another supermarket and we particularly don't need one right there. The traffic at that end of Carver Road is already chaotic, with lots of people crossing the road dangerously.
