| 1 | Paul Holleran | Journalism matters in this country and shouldn't be undermined by coporate greed. |
| 2 | Kevin Buchanan | It is vital to maintain the quality of these national papers. Newsquest must deliver on their assurances and stop draining the financial life blood from these prestigious Scottish titles |

| 5 | Kayt Turner | Everyone knows that times are hard in the newspaper world - but to have a 35% return on investment in just three years - and demand £3m worth of cuts is just outrageous greed on the part of Newsquest! |
| 6 | Ian Tasker | This has to be a classic case of corporate greed taking prcedence over the production of newspapers that meet the needs of their respective readerships interms of quality and content.
Significant cuts can only have an impact on quality and quantity of genuine Scottish coverage penned by staff journalists.
Of greater concern is the dramatic effect that these cuts have on those who lose their livliehoods and those who remain.
Continually downsizing these titles can only lead to an increase in the physical and psychological wellbeing of their workers. There will be little chance of the enforcement action against the company and the directors get away scot free as there is no individual duties placed on them to protect their workforce. |
| 7 | Satnam Ner | Happy to express solidarity with our NUJ colleagues |

| 9 | Diane Anderson | As a regular reader of all three newspapers, I would be very unhappy to think that there was any threat to the integrity and independence of their content.
Please ensure that staffing levels are maintained and enable the papers to continue their leading role of keeping Scottish and Glasgow people well informed. Thank you. |

| 14 | Duncan McCallum | The greed of newspaper owners seems to be matched only by their shortsightedness |
| 15 | Alan Hunter | As a former Herald journalist, I watch current developments with dismay, and support my Union's position. |
| 16 | John Bruce | It's a travesty that a US corporation should be able to shed Scottish jobs for the sake of the greed of American shareholders. |

| 19 | udo seiwert-fauti | Beeing a German and European Correspondent in Scotland I can onyl support the NUJ´s petition. Further cuts e,.g. at the Sundayherald would abolish a much meeded background reportring for many Scots , in Scotland and abroad ! I am convinced Newsquest has the task to deliver and stand by their word. |

| 28 | Martin Laing | The Herald is a great, ancient and august newspaper that is being systematically diminished by poor management. It is part of the fabric of Scottish society and its body politic. It deserves and requires to be protected from those who currently hold its purse-strings. |

| 30 | Dorothy Laing | Save these Scottish newspapers from American and Newsquest greed. |
| 31 | Anonymous | Newsquest's continual cost-cutting and lack of investment generally, and particularly in editorial, are threatening the future of a once-proud Scottish institution. The Herald is not a provincial newspaper. It is a quality national whose continued health is vital in a maturing democracy. |
| 32 | jeremy dear | The titles need investment not cuts |
| 33 | Christine Cooper | |
| 34 | Julie Davidson | The condition and future of the indiginous Scottish Press, including the three titles now owned by Gannett/Newsquest, should be a matter of urgent concern to our new Scottish government. |

To protect their future it is time Newsquest / Gannett began looking after their staff. |

As for the pledge given to the Commission- If newspaper owners do not keep their promises how can readers have faith in the newspapers?
