Name: Mr. & Mrs. Johnnie Frazier Jr. on May 24, 2010Comments: I wonder if this being a "Catholic" facility has something to do wih the outcry about the chickens, especially after the outcry when they tried to be good samaritans with the overflow of people they were not able to accommodate. Why don't they have the right to minister to people as advocated by biblical teaching? We would all be better off in this world if people would help and not hinder ministerial work.In which city do you reside?: OtherFlag

Name: Linda Larson on May 26, 2010Comments: Many of the cities our Council seems to want to emulate (Portland OR, Madison WI) allow a limited number of chickens with regulations on distance from neighbors. We should be able to craft an ordinance that would allow this without creating problems for neighborhoods. In which city do you reside?: ChampaignFlag

Name: Julie Birdwell on Jun 2, 2010Comments: Our neighbor has hens, and it has been wonderful! They have been no problem whatsoever to us, and my son has thoroughly enjoyed interacting with the hens, gathering eggs, and getting an opportunity to see the hatching process. Having hens can also help ease the economic crunch felt by so many in our community, as the practice can provide a safe, healthy source for eggs and meat. I consider this practice to be a step towards creating a more sustainable, environmentally responsible and attractive community. In which city do you reside?: UrbanaFlag

Name: Linda Finfrock on Jun 8, 2010Comments: Chickens, minus the roosters, is a very economical way to feed a lot of people a healthy form of protein. In this day in age, I think we need to give everyone the benefit of providing for their families or for the poor. Actually, I don't have a problem with one rooster either. I think they should be allowed, then if other health issues arrive, like they are not being properly cared for, site the individual don't punish everyone ahead of time.In which city do you reside?: ChampaignFlag

Name: Brian Payne on Jun 11, 2010Comments: I'm a homeowner in Champaign and have wanted to petition for this since arriving last year. Please consider all small poultry such as ducks in your petition also. Their are many useful breeds with greater disease resistance, less feed requirements, and less noise than chickens. In which city do you reside?: ChampaignFlag

Name: Michelle Marincel on Jun 15, 2010Comments: Many urban areas, much more urban than Champaign, allow and even encourage residents to grow their own eggs (such as NYC, Chicago). It is really important to also include all small poultry, as ducks are very good because they are quiet, lay bigger and more nutrious eggs, and are cleaner. My husband and I are looking forward to getting ducks in the near future with the help of this petition. In which city do you reside?: ChampaignFlag
