There are two wonderful childrens playgrounds (under 10 years and over 10 years) situated near the Leichlingen Pavilion in Henley which are very well used throughout the year, but which also require some minor but important improvements: 1. Addition of self closers and latches to the gate of the younger childrens play area to prevent children easily exiting the play area and running towards the dangers of the car park/road or the river. 2. Planting of trees within the younger childrens play area to provide much needed shade. 3. Repair and maintenance of some items of play equipment in the older childrens play area, such as the zip wire and the chain link tight rope. I feel that the issue of latches on the gates is of the greatest importance: a representative of the Town Council has already told me that the gates cannot have latches due to Health and Safety guidelines. However I have since found advice and guidelines from safety organisations (including the HSE and ROSPA) which contradict this statement and I am writing to the Council on this matter in more detail. This petition will be mailed to Henley Town Council. If you support improvements, please add your signature below. Thank you for your time.

Linda Cookson, United Kingdom6 years ago Comments: As a parent of two children and a registered childminder I feel very strongly about the lack of good facilities for all the children in my care. They are out of date and always broken causing many hazards. Why not swap the playgrounds over and put the little playground under the trees maybe there should also be some area for the older children/college kids as they are the reason that most equipment is damaged through lack of facilities and boredom. It should be about ALL of our children should we get the college involved in the design to help promote a partnership with young adults and thus helping to prevent damage in the future.
