| 193 | Dan Fortier | Just look at how little respect teenagers have for
parents or authority.
This is definitely a mental health issue. |

| 196 | Alexis Scott | My son, who is now 20 years old and serving a federal jail sentence, desperately needed intervention during his mid to late-teens. However, although I sought the help and it was available, the power to enforce his compliance was absent. Had I, as a parent, been entitled to secure his treatment compliance he likely would not be in jail today. As a result of efforts to empower the young as well as those with mental health issues we have disempowered parents and health care providers. It is time to have the pendulum swing back into balance and ensure that young people have empowered parents and caregivers who can ensure health interventions that are in the best interests of the young person (and ostensibly in the best interests of ALL). That is NOT the current reality! |
