In the Apokoronas district of West Crete there is a big problem with stray cats and dogs. Though the council has been working, with the support of many volunteers, on helping these strays, there are a number of ongoing problems effecting what is currently being done and possibly threatening completely their future efforts.

Obviously the Mayor and council have a great number of issues to deal with but we hope that a well supported petition will persuade them to keep this as one of areas they will continue to address.

We thank the Mayor and the council for their efforts to date and urge them to now work towards establishing a licensed municipal clinic so that with the ongoing support of residents and volunteers we can continue the neutering program that has been so successful. This will help our cats and dogs and make our district an even better place to live or holiday in.
