This is a petition to the International Board Certified Lactation Consultant Examiners(IBCLCE.) We are asking that the IBCLCE readjust their requirements to sit for the yearly exam. Currently, it is extremely difficult to accrue the contact hours required to test unless you are an RN or a Midwife. These requirements leave many women who are very skilled at Lactation Consulting and who have deep passion for breastfeeding without a means to really help women and babies with breastfeeding. Please re consider what you accept as "valid contact hours" and keep in mind all of us who are spending time volunteering with mothers, attending groups and seminars because we believe so strongly in what we do. Please help us so that we can help others. Thank you
