In the state of Idaho it is illegal for any hair stylist or makeup artist to charge and perform services on off site locations. (McCall, hotels; homes and sets) This doesn't just affect our income but this effects a whole group of local businesses.
We have a huge wedding, pagaent and fitness industry here in idaho that requires hair and makeup to be on location sites and travel. Photographers and videographers depend on us to help make their projects easy. We also have a growing entertainment industry that requires hair and make for film. The freelance industry is growing.Thanks to social media more people are wanting the convenience of a makeup artist or hairstylist on site.
Idaho's laws have not been updated since 1997 and its affecting our community. It states you can not perform these services with our without a license.
They board of cosmetology is trying to get us to stop working .
Can you imagine not having a make up artist and hairstylist at your wedding? M•N•M is determined to get a bill passed and change the law to make it legal for all local stylists and artists to work legally and get paid to do so.
MNM won't stop until it's we have made a difference

Prohibiting freelance work discourages growth in the industry and people from making a living. Being able to work on location is a HUGE part of any production whether personal or professional, and is a huge part of being a hair and/or makeup professional.
I can't understand how you can have a food truck. or you can have a mobile business doing manicures and pedicures both with way more risk than cutting hair and not have ability to have a mobile salon. mind blowing
As a wedding planner, I know how crutial it is for the makeup team to come to our bridal party on the day. A wedding day is already so stressful and jam packed, we don't allow our brides to go to a makeup studio. This law needs to change!
This law is useless. What matters is that proper care is taken in the sanitizing of brushes and equipment, not the location services are performed st. As long as all tax laws are being followed by the artist then why would it matter where they are performing their services?
This law needs to be updated! The photography and video industry relies on freelance makeup artists to help our business run. They should be aloud to practice their craft wherever they choose.
Colorado allows free lancing! I have worked a mobile salon in Colorado and know others that have for many years. I don’t understand why it is not legal in Idaho!
I too am being told I can not go in the homes of elders who are home bound to cut their nails. This is a disservice to our community and elders who need care! This law must be revisited!

MNM made my wedding day amazing! These girls and ALL freelance artist need to have the ability to do their craft were is most convenient and available whom they service. Having a business in the service industry need to be mobile. We need to change our laws!
