Help me prevent the next disaster in unplanned infrastructure build up in Bangalore by signing this petition. The "Sirsi-Agara signal free corridor project" is a disastrous to everyone in Bangalore using Koramangala roads. Why? The the proposed junction improvement projects actually destroy road capacity instead of creating fresh capacity. This wil choke the already choked traffic. Much of the traffic on Sarjapur Road is because of the problems on Hosur Road. Attention needs to be paid first to tackling junction improvement projects on Hosur Road to reduce traffic on Sarjapur Road. Traffic studies based on which the projects are planned are inadequate, incomplete and faulty. The critical environmental concerns have not been taken into account, no Environment Impact Assessment study has been produced by the authorities concerned and the destruction of a huge number of trees is totally unacceptable in the context of a junction improvement project which is supposed to protect tree diversity. There was absolutely no public consultation in this entire process and the plans for this project were formulated keeping the public in the dark. There appears to have been no planning during this project for public transportation including bus stops, bus bays, connectivity for the Metro in future etc. Although the citizens have been given oral promises that work will not continue until the issues raised are taken into account, and a re-look into the project takes place, I apprehend that some forces in the government, along with the contractors, are surreptitiously trying to have the work restarted, although most in the government are convinced that this project is seriously flawed and a complete overhaul of the plan is required. I therefore strongly demand that BDA not take up any work on these projects at all until the legitimate objections of the citizens are addressed and suitable changes are made which enable a free flow of traffic. In spite of assurances to the contrary, a portion of the Sarjapur Road near the 7th Main Road junction has been dug up and rendered unmotorable with resultant traffic jams making life miserable for road users. I also demand therefore that BDA take action to fill in the dug up portion and make the road usable until such time as the final plans are in place.
