Tips are not required from the patrons and a good employee will not insinuate as such. Being able to take home a little extra money from doing a less than glamorous job helps put a smile on an employee's face and generates a positive feeling toward the job and establishment they work for. Happy employees means happy customers. Happy customers means happy profits. Establishments that do not go an extra inch, let a lone mile for their employees will always be stuck with low quality employees and reluctant customers which equals low profits. It is a good idea to take care of employees as 'investments'. It takes time and money to train an employee - would you want them to go to a happier establishment with all the skills and ethic you trained them to have? I think not. Businesses are like machines, you cannot fail to maintain them and keep expecting the same output. (Hello, even Starbucks has tip cups. Starbucks also has employee benefits...)Flag
