Just a few months before graduation, an Indiana high school senior is suddenly facing the fact a tweet may have cost him his cap and gown. Austin Carroll, of Garret, Ind., was expelled after making a joke on his personal Twitter account using the f-word. Outraged over the severity of the punishment, students threatened to protest on Friday, which resulted in police being called to the school. Carroll’s mother also decried the expulsion, saying the school went too far. “I totally didn’t agree with what Austin said but I didn’t agree with an expulsion either. I mean if they suspended him for 3 days or something, I would be fine with that but to kick him out of school, his senior year, 3 months to go, wrong,” said Pam Smith, Austin’s mother. “I just want to be able to go back to regular school, go to prom and go to everything that a regular senior would get to do in their senior year,” Carroll was quoted as saying. Please sign this petition so that Austin Carroll can graduate with his class.
