The purpose of this petition is to help enact a tax on fatty foods, unhealthy junk food to decrease obesity in New York state. As proven by the decreased cigarette consumption, the taxes work, and helping people be healthy is the main goal. The secondary proposal is for there the opposite, a decrease in taxes and prices in healthy foods such as fruits and vegetables. The hope is that healthy foods are consumed more while unhealthy foods have decreased consumption.
