Comments: Toshiba, Do the right thing and release the specs! Don't let these players turn into landfill! The Open Source community can do amazing things if you give them the chance.

Comments: This seems like a good way for Toshiba to recover some money. It would definitely be in your best interest to release the hardware specs for the video and audio components and OS. We don't even need the specs for the AACS encryption components. We just want to use the device as a computer.

Comments: Releasing the specs for all HD Players would be a fantastic way for all the current hardware out there to get way more use out of them.

Comments: Please release the specs. We paid good money in good faith that you would stay in and fight for your custormers. The least you could do is release the specs so we could use the hardware to its utmost advantage.

Comments: I had been a loyal Toshiba customer for 15 years. I'm the family and neighorhood computer geek and had gotten aunts, cousins, neighbors, etc. all on Toshiba. Then, I had a DVD player that only lasted two years before bonking out. I did some online research and found that Toshiba had started outsourcing manufacturing and quality had gone way done. I'm now a loyal Samsung customer. If Toshiba were to release the specs, I'd almost be as good as back in the Toshiba camp. I'd definitely be buying several of these to use as PVR think clients.

Comments: As Toshiba has stated themselves that HD-DVD was the better format for the consumer. By giving us access to the full specifications of these machines Toshiba can extend an olive branch to the early adopters that still want to find new uses for their HD-DVD players.
