Name: James Oltman on Feb 19, 2008Comments: This seems like a good way for Toshiba to recover some money. It would definitely be in your best interest to release the hardware specs for the video and audio components and OS. We don't even need the specs for the AACS encryption components. We just want to use the device as a computer.Flag

I'm the family and neighorhood computer geek and had gotten aunts, cousins, neighbors, etc. all on Toshiba. Then, I had a DVD player that only lasted two years before bonking out. I did some online research and found that Toshiba had started outsourcing manufacturing and quality had gone way done. I'm now a loyal Samsung customer. If Toshiba were to release the specs, I'd almost be as good as back in the Toshiba camp. I'd definitely be buying several of these to use as PVR think clients.Flag

By giving us access to the full specifications of these machines Toshiba can extend an olive branch to the early adopters that still want to find new uses for their HD-DVD players.Flag
