I refuse to stay silent about this. It is racist. It is unGodly. It is unconstitutional. And, it is inhumane.Flag

Name: Brian Bales on May 26, 2007Comments: I find it strange that those who get so worked up about immigration are usually the first to proclaim their christianity. Yet they seem to ignore the very specific verses that call for compassion. Leviticus 19:33-34 " 'When an alien lives with you in your land, do not mistreat him. 34 The alien living with you must be treated as one of your native-born. Love him as yourself, for you were aliens in Egypt." This is even more powerful is Deuteronomy 24:19, "When you are harvesting in your field and you overlook a sheaf, do not go back to get it. Leave it for the alien, the fatherless and the widow, so that the LORD your God may bless you in all the work of your hands"Flag

Name: Rev. Dr. Bill Moorer on May 27, 2007Comments: This proposal appears to have been 1) hastily written, 2) in a mean-spirited attitude 3) and a clear lack of recognition of the common good. It deserves to be rejected by all fair-minded persons. Better proposals are being presented, surely.Flag

Fix the delays in the legalization process. People should not have to wait 6, 7, 8 years to have their paperwork processed.Flag

Name: Ana P. Marin on Oct 26, 2007Comments: I was once an illegal immigrant, so was my mother and my husband. It's unimaginable to me that at some point somebody could have been convicted of a felony for transporting us, or even that I could have gone to jail for driving with my own husband in my car before he became a resident. How shallow, naive and idiotic are our leaders if they think that all illegal immigrants are a threat to our society. Look at my example; now I have dual citizenship, I am as much American as anybody born here and I believe myself to be an honorable citizen. You can even say that I'm more so, because I'm American by CHOICE!! This is a sad time for our community, but if we stand for what is right, the Lord will be compassionate with us.Flag
