various sections of KRS Chapter 383 constituting that Act without change."

Seeing this momentum grow reminds me of the nights I spent sitting in a cold apartment wondering if basic protections would ever exist for tenants like me. This turnout proves that people are ready to hold landlords accountable across the entire state.

I'm an attorney, and I am so very tired of listening to horrific stories about housing conditions and then being forced to tell my clients there is virtually no law on the books in their county to protect them unless they want to move out.
THis needs done. We are about to be homeless due to a landlord who can do whatever they want, they can rent a house that is falling in, this should not be legal anywhere.
I've recently wasted money on rental applications because I've turned down three properties due to unfair clauses in the lease agreements. Most, not all, landlords are committing highway robbery and not having the URLTA legislation is allowing them to do it.
Passing statewide URLTA legislation just makes good sense for residents of the Commonwealth, especially for folks in small towns and rural communities, where oversight and accountability are especially hard to come by.
Passing URLTA statewide will benefit both tenants and landlords by providing everyone with a clear set of rights and responsibilities that doesn't vary by county or city.
Without this protection, landlords are taking advantage of their tennant's daily and using scare tactics to manipulate them.

The state has already passed this as a law. It seems absurd that cities and counties should then be able to reject abiding by this law by being allowed to legally refuse to adopt the guidelines of URLTA. Residents who rent are vulnerable and have little leverage to negotiate fair and safe access to a home, and depriving Kentucky tenants of this tool is a clear declaration that Kentucky legislators don't care about the people of Kentucky, but only the votes cast by the people of Kentucky.
