Comments: Even though I hope this issue goes away... somehow I know the right wing ND extremists will manage to disgrace the university yet again.

Comments: I am not a Notre Dame student, I am a student at another Catholic University, Villanova University. I think it would be an honor, regardless of any personal political leaning, to have the most historic president of the United States to speak at my graduation.

Comments: I am so proud to have the President of the United States speak at my University. It shows that this school is an exemplary institution, and what kind of example would we be setting if we were to disgrace ourselves and our country by disrespecting his authority and hard work. I think that we need to look beyond party lines and simply admire and respect how hard he had worked and the message he has to relay to our graduates.

Comments: Barack Obama is the President of the United States and should be treated with respect. Notre Dame is truly blessed to have him accept their invitation. It is stunning to see that so many people want to ruin Commencement for the graduates and families by protesting his speaking. I fully support the decision to have Barack Obama as the Commencement speaker for 2009.

Comments: As a student who was not completely >pleased< with the selection of George Bush as the commencement speaker when I graduated in 1992, I certainly understood the honor of having such a prestigious speaker at our commencement. I would encourage anyone against having Obama speak this year to reconsider in light of the amazing statement about Notre Dame that it makes to have The President of The United States come there to speak (regardles of his politics!) This is GOOD for Notre Dame.
