The petition

In addition to the struggle of having the first incident of the Quran's desecration at Pace recognized as a hate crime, the MSA has faced further opposition towards its attempts to initiate a proper investigation of the incident. After much pressure placed on the Pace administration, it has acknowledged the desecration as a hate crime only after being contacted by the NYPD hate crimes unit. They now claim that a proper investigation is being carried out, yet four other incidents have taken place after this, including two more desecrations of the Quran, the destruction of a Sahih Bukhari hadith volume, and the slur "F*** Islam" scrawled across a wall with cigarette ashes.

We urge everyone to join us in first acknowledging the severity of the issues, and second, calling on the administration to react accordingly.

The Pace Administration must adhere to the following:
1)Issue a statement detailing all hateful incidents. Students, faculty, and staff have the right to know the events that take place on campus, positive or negative.
2)PACE must work with the NYPD Hate Crimes Department, as opposed to wiping their hands clean and making the NYPD solely responsible for handling the situation.
3)The administration has to issue a notice detailing the proper disciplinary action that will be taken against the perpetrator(s). As of now, there has been no attempt to specify the consequences of such despicable actions.
4) PACE must also provide proper sensitivity training to every member of the faculty, staff, and administration

Stand against hate. Demand proper action. Do not the ignore the issue.
