The council just confirmed that those five Assistant posts are being saved and the museum will stay open. My heart is full knowing the Hallaton Treasure will remain where it belongs. I am staying vigilant to ensure this commitment holds firm for years to come.
We the undersigned deplore the proposal by Harborough District Council that the five Harborough Museum Assistant posts should be removed as part of Harborough District Council budget cuts. The loss of these posts would mean at the most a reduced Museum service with the loss of the Hallaton Treasure Exhibition. The worst case scenario is that the Museum could well close! We therefore urge Harborough District Council to reconsider their proposal.
I have been spending my mornings at the museum watching the children stare at the Hallaton Treasure and it breaks my heart to think this might disappear. I am currently preparing a formal letter for the council to ensure they understand that these staff members are the lifeblood of our local history.

Seeing this level of support reminds me exactly why I refused to let our local history disappear without a fight. My grandfather spent his final years volunteering in those halls and I know he would be proud that we are protecting this treasure for the generations to follow.

Absolute madness. There are plenty of other places to make cuts before touching the museum.

So sad to hear this news. The team there is always so helpful. Leave them alone!

STOP THE CUTS. The hallaton treasure needs to stay where it belongs. Disgraceful.

I grew up visiting this place. It would be a total shame if the council closes it down just to save a few pennies.
